Yes: Warm compresses should not hurt if you are doing them properly. Go over the right technique with your doctor. Another option might be lipiflow, a newer and possibly more effective way to combine warmth and eye lid massage. ...Read more

Dear eye experts/ ophthalmologist:for evaporate dry eye, i can't do warm eye compress. Would washing and massaging eyes 5 min in shower be equivalent?

Maybe: The warm compresses may be used in the shower. I feel that it is the abrasive action of the washcloth combined with the detergent action of the baby shampoo that improves the blepharitis. Try this out and see. For the evaporativ dry eye, use a good artificial tear for lubrication. Keeping the blepharitis under control will help the dry eye. ...Read more

It is time for a: visit with your doctor. The discoloration and puffiness mentioned raises some concern but even more so the associated pain. It is necessary to check for problems involving the deeper tissues of the eye and or the sinuses. Take care. ...Read more

See your plastic Sur: Geon. Sounds like you have chemo sis. These can be treated with special eye drops. However if it becomes painful you may need a special ointment or sometimes a patch. If it is not sensitive or painful it might just be a minute amount of blood in your sub conjunctival area you should see your plastic surgeon for this. ...Read more

I used warm tea bag to compress on my infected eye. It popped, should I continue compressing the tea on my eye?

I used warm tea bag to compress on my infected eye. It popped, should I continue compressing the tea on my eye?

It did the job...: I assume you have stye of the eyelid? Using compresses can help bring the stye closer to the surface and at time it can "pop" on its own and thus cure itself. So, if it popped and now the stye is shrinking, you don't need the tea-bag anymore. Congratulations. Your problem is solved. Nice work. If worsens, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Can a sty eye cure by itself? I have been having it for 2 days im putting warm compress whag else can help? What causes sty eye?

Warm compress: A sty is an inflamed "sweat duct" in the eyelid. The ducts get blocked. I tell my patients to get a damp wash cloth and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot. Place warm compress the closed eyelid for about5-10 minutes re-heating as necessary-at least 4x a day. If it does not get better in a week or gets worse go to your eye doctor. ...Read more

I have clogged blocked gland on my eye. I've been treating it with warm compress for about 2 months. My eye is still blocked. What do I do?

Cut or drained: If it is a sty it may need to be removed , simple minor surgery. If it is a blocked tear duct, it may need to be unblocked. I would see an ophthmalogist, not optomotrist. And check out the american academy of ophthamology web page. ...Read more
