Concern re RA: While many things can cause swelling, morning swelling and stiffness makes me concerned about rheumatoid arthritis. This can run in families and can appear at any time. Multiple joints can be involved, as well as fatigue. But things that cause swelling can also be medications, thyroid disease, diabetes, and allergic reactions to things.
