Alcohol malabsorptio: Diarrhea, weight loss and osteoporosis are prominent symptoms and clinical signs of alcoholism. One of several possible factors causing this clinical picture is small intestinal damage leading to malabsorption alcohol inhibits the breakdown of nutrients into usable molecules by decreasing secretion of digestive enzymes from the pancreas (2). Alcohol impairs nutrient absorption by damaging the cell.
I am still vomiting 2 days after drinking alcohol. Is this just a bad hangover or something more serious?
Vomiting: It is not the norm. I would seek medical attention at urgent care/ doctor as you have to make sure you can hold down fluids otherwise you dehydrate which also causes vomiting. Also excessive vomiting can damage your esophagus and cause electrolyte abnormalities. You likely need IV fluids because you are dehydrated and need electrolyte replenishment. Seek medical attention today.
Yesterday, I drank wine and vodka. It was my first time drinking alcohol. This morning, there was blood in my vomit. Is this common? I am 20 yrs old.
Excess alcohol: Yes you drank too much for the first time. You probably created a gastritis and that is why you have blood in the vomit.
Emergency: Take away the alcohol, and go to emergency room. Consider getting ambulance transport.
I'm 18.I just had two heavy session of drinking alcohol in my life. D both tims I vomited blood. Doctor said gastrits. Can this lead to chronic erosive?
Alcohol: Let the bloody gastritis be a warning to you. If you keep up your drinking you will continue to have erosive gastritis as well as other symptoms.
Dx type1 vonwillebrand w/o fam Hx. Lately getting a few petechiae on eyelids w/o trauma/straining/vomiting. Web says periorbital purpura=amyloid but could VWD+drinking alcohol also explain? Hem/onc prev thought all ok but hasn't seen me sincethis began
Just watch it: Even though you might have found the link between "periorbital purpura" on my own website, there are lots of other possible causes, including fragile vessels from any cause, mild platelet dysfunction (maybe from vWD), and other stuff not nearly so deadly as amyloidosis. And you're getting older and more sun-damaged, which itself weakens the small vessels some. Just follow your vWD. Best wishesSee 1 more doctor answer
Not drink???: Your body, via your stomach, is telling you that you are taking in something that disagrees with it, and perhaps you should listen. You may already have gastritis or pancreatitis and the alcohol may be making these worse (or causing them, for that matter). When people keep doing something despite it causing them problems, then they have a problem with that "something, " whether alcohol or heroin.
After drinking alcohol a lot... I threw up now I feel queasy. Is has been 13 hours since I've drank. I just feel bad quesy and cold help please?
One night I was drinking alcohol and the next morning I threw up I and I saw blood what could be the cause of that?
Couple possibliities: You may just have some gastritis, or even some peptic ulcer disease. But, if your emesis was violent, you may have torn the distal esophagus' inner lining, called a mallory-weiss tear. This will be self limited. If it continues, see your doctor, and take it easy on the etoh for awhile. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
Hi my husband has been experiencing problems after consuming alcohol, he had two drinks last night, vomited three times and has diarrhea, what's wrong?
Previous problems?: With alcohol consumption? Two drinks is a small amount to be causing symptoms the next day, if it hasn't previously caused problems. Also, diarrhea is pretty unusual. Sounds like he possibly has something else going on, like a virus or food poisoning. Try just clear liquids as tolerated, consider getting a Concierge consult or seeing your GP or Walk In if not better after a few hours.
Vomiting and severe diarrhea with rigors after dinner and drinks last night. Wondering if it is food poisoning or because of mixing alcohol.
Food poisoning: Hope you're better. Get seen if you need to.
Why?: I am unsure why this would be your thought, can you clarify please?
