Why am I having gas pain after appendectomy?

Why am I having gas pain after appendectomy?

Normal: It is normal for the intestines to be bit uncoordinated after an abdominal operation with general anesthesia. This can cause some bloating, and eventually that all has to come out. There is nothing specific related to the appendectomy and "gas". Hope this helps!

Removal Of Appendix (Definition)

An appendectomy is surgery to remove the appendix. The appendix is a small, finger-shaped organ extending from the first part of the large intestine. It is removed when it becomes inflamed or infected. A perforated appendix can leak and infect the entire abdominal area, which can be life-threatening. An appendectomy is done under general anesthesia, which means you are asleep and do not feel any pain during the surgery. The surgeon makes a small cut in the lower right side of your belly area ...Read more

My little niece have been vomiting 5days after appendectomy what could caused that?

My little niece have been vomiting 5days after appendectomy what could caused that?

Ileus/obstruction: Your niece's parents shouldn't wait one more minute to take her to the ER. I hope it's something minor like an ileus (sluggish G.I. tract) complicated by resuming a normal diet too soon. However, she may be experiencing a serious complication from the appendectomy like a mechanical obstruction. Vomiting can occur from appendicitis but it should NOT occur after an appendectomy.

Is normal for there to be specs of blood in vomit immediately after appendectomy? Son began to vomit dark green liquid, still vomiting but normal now?

Possibly, get check: This is not common to cough blood from appendectomy, but it may be unrelated to the surgery. Could be from the nose or throat irritation from intubation; also rare. Nevertheless, call your surgeon and be safe.

I had an appendectomy on saturday and was discharged on monday. Since being discharged, I have suffered vomiting every day, nausea, dizziness, faintne?

Post Op complication: Every surgeon in the world needs to know if there are complications post operatively. I am sure you were sent home with some instructions on what to expect and when to be concerned. It sounds like you need to call the on call doctor to report this situation and to see what they recommend.

If you cannot: Hold anything down, you get dehydrated. A lot of complciations can cause this. But if someone cannot keep liquids down, there's not much choice except to get immediate treatment.

11year old son diagnosed with mesenteric adenitis. (4 time in 2 years)ultrasound shows 6.2cm appendix. Pain, vomitting, diarhhea, stool pelts. Appendectomy?

Unlikely appy: Appendicitis is something that usually comes, stays, and becomes a big problem. It does not usually come and go. It's also usually does not cause significant stool changes except maybe diarrhea at the time it is inflamed. It sounds like it would be very beneficial to see a G.I. Specialist as there is a few problems things it could be. Ibs, crohn's and ulcerative colitis are all possible.

I had a severe bout of nausea and vomiting last night on day 11 post lap appendectomy. Do I still need to worry that it's connected to the surgery?

I had a severe bout of nausea and vomiting last night on day 11 post lap appendectomy. Do I still need to worry that it's connected to the surgery?

Doubtful: If you haven't been experiencing abdominal distress prior to this episode I doubt that it's related to the procedure. Simple indigestion is likely, but if symptoms persist, other possibilities could be occurring. Persistent nausea or vomiting, abdominal discomfort and tenderness, abnormal bowel pattern all call for a physician's evaluation.

Got an lap appendectomy 3 weeks ago. Feeling pain on one of the post op scar (left side), diarrhea, vomiting, no fever. Also having gastric ulcer. Okay?

Stay hydrated: The pain is normal, as long as the wounds look ok. The diarrhea can be normal, but if you're running a fever or feel ill, see your surgeon and ask to check for C. Dificile colitis. The vomiting/diarrhea could be from a viral infection, or an abscess. You must stay well hydrated, and may need IV fluids. Best to call your surgeon for a more complete eval. Hope this helps!

You should: Report this to your surgeon, because it could be delayed infection, drug side effect, or even intestinal obstruction, something related to your operation. But it could also be something that is unrelated.

After my appendectomy, I started getting loose poops after meals. Are they related?

After my appendectomy, I started getting loose poops after meals. Are they related?

Likely: Early after surgery, bowel function irregularity is common. Loose bowels and constipation can occur. Sometimes antibiotics after surgery can cause diarrhea, and even can cause intestinal infection (c. Diff.). Trying probiotics supplements or yogurt may help. If you have persistent diarrhea that does not improve, see your surgeon.

Just wondering if I can go back to work at my desk job after a week after appendectomy?

Usually Yes: Everyone has a different tolerance for pain and recovery. Usually for my patients that undergo laparoscopic appendectomy, they can return to work as soon as they can perform their job safely and up to the expectations of their employer. Usually this is between 3-14 days. My only restriction is no heavy lifting over 15lbs for 2 weeks. Speak with your surgeon to see if he/she has any restrictions.
