Lung (Definition)

Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more

When a person has lung cancer, are the symptoms before death vomiting blood?

When a person has lung cancer, are the symptoms before death vomiting blood?

No: Although coughing up blood (hemoptysis) can occur at any time with lung cancer it is usually not the leading symptom. Most people lose significant amounts of weight and may pass away from infection, sometimes they become increasingly short of breath or they may just fall asleep and not wake up. The way they pass is not important it is how they pass. It should be relatively pain and anxiety free. ...Read more

In second stage lung cancer is it important to first take medication for blood coughing and vomiting, before starting the actual therapy?

In second stage lung cancer is it important to first take medication for blood coughing and vomiting, before starting the actual therapy?

No 2 cases the same: In clinical stage ii non-small-cell cancer, the burning question may actually be "candidate for surgical cure". If you are vomiting at this stage, one burning question is possible brain metastases; if you have intractable bloody cough, we want to rule out a cancer-induced pneumonia. The decision to delay or proceed with chemotherapy is too tricky to be settled in 400 words. Good luck. ...Read more

Her symptoms are: no appetite, throwing up blood, shortness of breath, tired, pain in her stomach and chest. What's the problem ?

Maybe ulcer: You need to see a doctor right away - if for nothing else but the throwing up blood. Combined, these symptoms suggest an ulcer or severe irritation of the esophagus and/or stomach. Regardless, you'll need to see a doctor for further evaluation and start of medication for this. But the bleeding is urgent since if you're too anemic, you may need a transfusion. ...Read more

Aunt has lung cancer, having chemo, rushed back to hospital throwing up blood. Ive been told good sign, means collapsed lung re-inflating. Any advise?

Who said this?: If the doctor treating her right now said this was a good sign, then it likely is. Only the doc who's treating her for this now can give a decent idea. Unless the doc has communicated this to another doc or family member. Maybe this sounds like a reasonable answer to vomiting blood to another doc, but it does not make a lot of sense to me. But, sometimes we don't remember all we were told exactly ...Read more

Started wth a sore throat cough wheezy and now i'm throwing up and blood went ER last night have a spot on my lung they didn't seem worried should I b?

Probably not: You are too young to have cancer. The spot on the lung can be many things. Best to double check with a lung specialist. Get the disc with your cxr for review. You will probably be comfortable and have a good sleep with false worries. Good luck and all the best. ...Read more

Bad on and off cough, speciall at night and early mornings, end up vomiting, took augumentin, chest xray was normal, blood test was normal. What can be causing it?

Pertussis: My best 'guess' would be pertussis or 'whooping cough' which is classically associated with vomiting after coughing. Coughs from this illness can be spasmodic and can last for weeks. Given your tests are reassuring, I think dealing with symptoms is the best treatment: Try regulating what you eat at when-- cough is worse at night. Try anti-cough medicines. Ginger tea might help too. See a doc also. ...Read more

Could be GERD: The acronym we use is GERD, Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease. It is gastric acid from your stomach getting up and out into your esophagus. While omprezole is a good medication you might need another drug, It is also imperative that you should not lie down until two hours after eating and you should eat slowly, chew your food well and keep in frequent touch with your gastroenterologist. ...Read more

Really intense cough: All the parts of your body are connected so if you have a really intense cough it is not surprising that you feel it rattling other parts of your body. Now the question is why are you coughing so intensely. I obviously don't know what is causing the cough. It could be an infectious process, an allergic one or something else. You should see your doc ASAP and get a work up. ...Read more
