Vitex Dosage For Pcos
No evidence it helps: There is some scientific evidence that vitex agnus-castus (chaste tree berry) may help with pms symptoms and cyclic mastalgia (breast pain) but no studies showing that it helps women with pcos or infertility. If you have pcos and are trying to conceive the safety of vitex when you're pregnant is unknown, so you should stop it when you get a positive pregnancy test if you conceive while taking it.

AGE 26, Diagnose with PCOS since 5 years. No natural periods, since been taking primolut N. Thyroid normal. Enlarged ovaries, vitex help? Dosage?
Yes: This is an herbal product that has poorly-understood effects on the sex hormones, at least in part at the level of the pituitary. J fam pract oct 2009 open-label study found it effective for premenstrual syndrome; it's also used for cyclic breast tenderness. No poisonings or bad side-effects reported as of yet. Not Likely: Vitex has been used for problems with menstrual function, but no good studies exist for its use in pcos and its many issues. This is a very difficult problem with some serious possible consequences such as infertility and even the risk of developing diabetes. Best to sit down and explore the best approach for you, which is unlikely to be just vitex, or any herbal medicine.
Good morning. I need some advice re managing my PCOS. I have been taking 800 mg of Vitex for the past 2 months. Last period April 2016.
PCOS: Herbal supplements like Vitex are not likely to help PCOS. The treatment depends on your goals and specific circumstances. Obese PCOS patient can focus on weight loss. PCOS patients who want cycle regulation can consider oral contraceptives. PCOS patient who desire pregnancy can see a doctor to discuss ovulation medications.
Is it ok to take vitex and progesterone cream in the same cycle? Do I stop the vitex once I ovulate and just use the prog. Cream alone? Pcos, prog def
Don't use it.: There is no reason at all to 'take' vitex. Stop using it. Most 'natural Progesterone creams' do not contain any progesterone, and often contain plant extracts that are estrogenic. In my view there is no use for these creams. Talk with a doctor about pcos alternatives to what you need.
I have pcos & would like to conceive. I'm trying vitex to help w/ ovulation & have read conflicting info on how/when to take it. What's the best way?
See a doctor: If you are diagnosed with pcos and want to get pregnant, I suggest you to see a doctor. The treatment should under doctor's supervision. Because you have higher risk of miscarriage, gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Beside using ovulation induction medication, your doctor may also prescribe metformin or other medication to reduce your risks.See 1 more doctor answer
Not much: Vitex has been used in greece for many years, but there is no scientific data to establish it's reliability. Diet, exercise and weight loss can help. Metformin is a more scientific and well studied option. It can help noralize menses and even induce fertility in many women, discuss w/your ob/gyn. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or the internet.
What do you think of the use of vitex as a herbal supplement to aid woman with menstrating issues due to pcos?
Not much: Vitex has been used in greece for many years, but there is no scientific data to establish it's reliability. Metformin is a more scientific and well studied option. Discuss w/your ob/gyn.
Should serrapeptase (using to treat scar tissue in fallopian tubes) be used along with vitex (to treat pcos)?
Neither are useful: There is no scientific evidence that serratiopeptidase (serrapeptidase) affects any cause of infertility, including scarring in or around the fallopian tubes. There is evidence that vitex agnus-castus may help with pms symptoms and cyclic mastalgia (breast pain) but no studies showing that it helps women with pcos or infertility. If you have pcos and damaged tubes you need to see a rei specialist.
Ttc. My doctor prescribed me vitex for mild PCOS along with progesterone drops. What does vitex do exactly. All I have read is regarding PMS symptoms.
Alternative medicine: B"sd Is your dr a herbalist? "Vitex agnus-castus, also called vitex, chaste tree. .. long believed to be an anaphrodisiac but its effectiveness remains controversial. Modern uses include premenstrual syndrome, uterine disorders and mastodynia". See Activation of the mu-opiate receptor by Vitex agnus-castus methanol extracts: implication for its use in PMS. Can I start taking vitex with spironolactone without consulting with my doctor? Does vitex help increase effectiveness of spiro for acne due to pcos?
Why?: Why have you decided to begin treating yourself with something that you don't know what's in it, don't know why you're taking it, don't know how to judge whether it's helping you, and don't know if it will have any adverse side effects of interactions? Makes no sense to me. Leave the medical decision-making to the people with training, not your friends, tv or internet.
I have pcos, taking vitex to regulate my cycle. Mild continuous cramping 6 days after period with regular unprotected sex. Wha could be causing this?
Unknown: Hard to specifically answer this Question. Many patients with PCOS are unable to generate an adequate endometrium after a cycle starts. The result is continuous bleeding and pain. The estrogen levels are not high enough to develop an endometrium that will stop bleeding so patients continue to bleed and have pain until the estrogen levels get to a point to stop bleeding. This often takes weeks
I hav pcos. What supplement can I take with femara (letrozole) to improve egg quality n fertility? Can vitex (chaste berry) be taken with femara (letrozole)?
I have pcos & my cysts in my ovaries had rupture two months ago. I was wondering will taking chasteberry vitex & prenatal vitamins help me conceive?
Not directly: PCOS does not directly cause gallstones but someone with PCOS could coincidentally also have gallstones. Both are fairly common medical issues. Risk factors for both include being female and struggling with weight.
Yes and no: Depo-provera will reduce the multiple ovarian cyst formation and inhibit some of the symptoms of PCOS. The downside is that once the Depo-provera is stopped then the same ovulation difficulties will reappear and spontaneous ovulation/fertility is still a problem Moreover, Depo-provera can cause irregular bleeding/spotting.
