Vitamin D Deficiency Tingling
I have vitamin d deficiency- taking 10,000 units a week. I used to have neuropathy on my left side and now my feet and fingers are tingling a lot more than usual. Related?
Yes it's possible: Have you also been checked for Vit. B12, folate, and thyroid function tests? When I give weekly Vit. D it usually hits 50,000IU so if you're that deficient enough to need replacement therapy then, I'm not sure if 10,000 is high enough. Can prolonged moderate to severe vitamin d deficiency be associated with extreme fatigue, tingling/needling sensations in feet, weakness & body ache?
Can vitamin d deficiency cause pain in back right arm and right leg with stiff calf muscles and tingling , a little right portion of back is stiff?
Vitamin D deficiency: would not be my first impression. Certainly significant vitamin D deficiency can cause symptoms of bone, joint or muscle pain, it would not be so localized as you suggest involving specific areas of the right leg and arm. I would be more suspicious of a nerve impingement syndrome involving your back. This requires careful evaluation by your doctor and possible imaging, i.e. CT or MRI.Make an appt ...Read more

In children, prolonged vitamin d deficiency causes rickets (bony deformities). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

This deficiency has been associated with a multitude of conditions but not definitively linked to many. The potential symptoms are therefore quite varied. The best course of action would be to replace Vitamin D as it is very important for your bones regardless of other effects. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Treat it: Vitamin d is claimed to do so many things it's hard to know which symptoms is caused by vitamin d deficiency. The best thing to do is treat it with a supplement to get it back to the normal range. Once it's normal, whatever remaining symptoms are then caused by something else and not the low vit d. (process of elimination). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
What to do if i was recently diagnosed with severe vitamin d deficiency. What could be causing this?
Lack of sun & supps: Virtually all americans become deficient in vit d in the winter months if they don't supplement. It is impossible for us to produce vit d from sun in the fall & winter (unless you live in the deep south) as the sun is never high enough in the sky for uvb rays to reach us. Most adults need 5-8, 000 iu of vit d3 to achieve optimal levels. It is best to take vit a & k with d as they work in synergy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
