Side effects of vitamin C at 1000mg a day - is that a lot?

Usually none & no: Vitamin c is extremely safe. Excessive doses (usually over 5000 mg a day) can cause a laxative effect. Vit. C can interact with certain medications, esp. Coumadin (warfarin) (which interacts with everything!). Concerns that high doses of vit c can cause kidney stones are unproven, in fact there is no good evidence of harm from high doses of c. Takin vitamin C 500mg evryday for skin lightening. Hw long should I take it fr results and if there's any side effects on takin everyday or longtime?

Stop doing this: The vitamin C probably won't work. Very big doses can wreck your kidneys. Here in the United States, where world trends are set, trying to change your natural skin color or caring about someone else's is considered the height of ignorance. Topical skin lighteners can seriously disfigure you. Use sunscreen as you should, and embrace whatever Nature gave you ...Read more

What are the side effects of too much vitamin C besides yellow pee?

More not nec better: There often seems to be this belief that if vitamin c (or any other herb, supplement, vitamin) is good for you, more is better. Firstly most of these probably have no benefit. Excess of them, certainly have a downside, in particular the lipid soluble vitamins (such as a, d, e, and k), which stay for long periods of time in the fat cells of the body (like thc). Diseases such as hypervitaminosis a. ...Read more

Many brands: Many brands of Vitamin C do not contain flavonoids. I recommend Lypospheric C which is much better-absorbed than most forms of C. See http://www. Livonlabs. Com/cgi-bin/start. Cgi/liposome-encapsulated/lypo-spheric-vitamin-c.html

What brand of vitamin C doesn't have bioflavonoids?

What brand of vitamin C doesn't have bioflavonoids?

Why? Likely few/none: Like all vitamins, single molecules found in stuff from nature which humans have long eaten & not maintained every single gene to manufacture out of other molecules (typically missing only 1 of many steps), vitamin C is routinely harvested in association with dominant other molecules, e.g. from fruit waste in industrial processing. Look up issues on http://en. Wikipedia. Org Flavonoid & Vitamin C. ...Read more

Where do I find foods with vitamin C but without bioflavonoids or rose-hips?

Where do I find foods with vitamin C but without bioflavonoids or rose-hips?

Basic biology: Most fresh vegetables and fruits have vitamin c. Rose hips are pulped and added to synthetic vitamin c (manufactured from petroleum) in tiny amounts to give it glamour so the manufacturers can charge an inflated price. Bioflavonoinds are pigments found in plants and aren't going to harm you. You've been done a disservice by 'nutrition' sites; get with an evidenc-based physician / dietician. ...Read more

Can I take 150 mg of vitamin C and 28 mg of iron daily while trying to conceive? Is there any side effect?

Can I take 150 mg of vitamin C and 28 mg of iron daily while trying to conceive? Is there any side effect?

Yes, unlikely: Yes, this is not only a good idea but the minimum you should take. I advise all my patients to take 500-1000 mg of Vitamin C twice a day. 28 mg of iron is safe but you may need more if you're anemic. I advise iron bis-glycinate if available. C enhances iron abosrption. Iron may cause stomach upset and constipation but prob. Not with such a low dose.
Be sure to take folic acid, ideally as L-5-MTHF. ...Read more

What are the effects of vitamin C overdose?

What are the effects of vitamin C overdose?

Inconsequential: Vitamin c is water soluable, therefore amounts taken in excess of dietary needs are quickly excreted by the kidneys. Thus vitamin c has a very low toxicity. In rat studies the ld50 (dose that kills 50%) is very high. We have no data in humans to compare. One might expect diarrhea and/or abdominal cramping but nothing dangerous. If intentional overdose seek, psychiatric care immediately. ...Read more

How long does it take to recover from the effects of scurvy and does taking more vitamin C speed up the process?

How long does it take to recover from the effects of scurvy and does taking more vitamin C speed up the process?

Vitamin C deficiency: Scurvy is a condition caused by deficiency in vitamin c, and supplemental vitamin c is the treatment. Scurvy is almost unheard of today, because vitamin c is present in so many fresh foods (including both vegetables and fresh meat). It used to occur on long ship journeys when all the food was preserved and contained no vitamin c. The prevention was a lime a day for the sailors ("limeys"). ...Read more

Yes: Using this stuff will get you involved with medical quacks. This is a cruel health fraud directed at people who want to lighten their skin. If the substances are prepared properly, glutathione and vitamin C are harmless and you'll pee them out. The glutathione may suppress melanin some. Adding dried sheep placenta is simply quackery.
