No: B"sd No not a reason for facial swelling Quite low levels very low are common, significance is unclear. "Correct" level of vitamin D are quite arbitrary - usually given as 30 but as low as 15 may be fine. Some recent studies also suggest higher levels may even be harmful. Elevated liver levels, swollen hands feet and neck lymph nodes, no fat on liver, don't drink or do drugs, neg hep b and c. Please advise?
(a) Lymph nodes are: part of immune system (protects body from infection & cancer). (b) swelling = excess water in particular body location (local inflammation &/or heart, liver, kidney failure), (c) elevated LFTs indicate liver cells being damaged & ?ed leaking of proteins from cells out to water outside cells (as measured). If repeated often: While research is lacking, many docs who specialize in nutrition find Vit C can indeed help fight flu & other viral infections but only in very high doses, often 100,000 mg or more a day! One would need to repeat a 2000 mg dose often to reach this. The liposomal form of C is better absorbed & effective in lower doses. IV C helps more. What supplements help boost energy and mood? It's winter here.. Think ill be taking my daily vitamin d along with glucosamine for sore joints
No, absolutely not: Vit d deficiency can lead to osteoporosis since vit d is needed to absorb calcium from your diet. However, too much vit d can be harmful since it is stored in fatty tissue and can build up over time (not just urinated out like many other vitamins taken in excess quantities). If you have arthritis, be sure to see a board certified rheumatologist for treatment--don't rely on vitamin supplements. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Does vitamin B12 deficiency lead to cold hands and feet? If yes, do vitamin B12 supplements help?
My vitamin d tested @30. Can this cause muscle fatigue? Started 5000iu of vit. D, how long before feel affects?
Cold feet & vit B12: Cold feet (and hands) is often a condition where the blood flow is impaired due to overconstriction of the capillaries by the sympathetic nervous system. This occurs because of the overactivity of the sympathetic nerves which effect the constriction. Vitamin b (b6, b12) deficiency needs to be corrected, but keeping hands & feet warm is also important.Long term tx requires a medical professional. ...Read more
Lateral right knee ache, vit d level is 17,should vit d tablet be taken?can this level of vit d cause muscle ache in knee?
The lower limit: of normal vitamin D is about 20 ng/ml so your level is a little low. But it is probably not low enough to cause many symptoms. And usually the muscle and bone pain would be more generalized. I suspect your lateral knee pain is due to a strain/sprain. Check with your doctor about vitamin D supplements; but do try to get more fish/salmon, tuna, sardines or cod liver oil. Or fortified yogurt or milk! ...Read more
Cold shoulders, elbows, palm, feet tested thyroid, uric acid both r normal, i thnk thr is nerves system problem..
Unclear: Depends on the cause of your joint pains. Some studies suggest that cod liver oil has anti-inflammatory properties and may be beneficial in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (autoimmune joint disease). The studies on osteoarthritis (wear and tear joint disease) seem less conclusive. All in all more research needs to be done. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Ttc, taking vit B6 100mg, 500mg vit c and a mum to be multi vit as luteal phase 9-11 day once pregnant should I stop vit B6 and vit c straight away?
Why?: Vitamin b6 and vit. C are totally safe during pregancy. Is strongly advise everyone take at least 1000 mg of vit c 2x/day as a preventive measure and feel it is wise during pregnancy. Your pre-natal will probably provide adequate b6 (though many people benefit from higher doses than many pre-natals supply) so it may not be necessary but there is no need to stop it "straight away.". ...Read more
