Autism (Definition)

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting three areas: abnormal socialization, communication, and restricted interests with repetitive patterns of behavior. It is usually detected in the first two years of life. Cause is unknown but strong evidence points to an interplay between genetic and environmental factors. Patients with autism may display significant delays in certain developmental areas while having normal or superior strengths in other developmental or learning domains. The severity of the disorder is highly variable ...Read more

Can vitamin d, fish oil, and vitamin C be taken at the same time? Or should they be spaced out through the day?

Can vitamin d, fish oil, and vitamin C be taken at the same time? Or should they be spaced out through the day?

OK to take together : It is fine to take these together. Vitamin d and fish oil are best taken after a meal as they are fat-soluble. Vitamin c can be taken any time but is best taken at least twice a day, as it is not stored in the body (unlike d and fish oil) so will only stay in our bodies for several hours. ...Read more

Is it okay to take fish oil, vitamin E, and vitamin C while on accutane?

Is it okay to take fish oil, vitamin E, and vitamin C while on accutane?

Sure: Don't expect them to do you any good. The real scientific work on all three has been horribly disappointing. I'm glad you're on accutane after having been scarred by acne and wish you had been treated in a more timely way. Stay the course with your treatment. If you are interested in vitamins, herbs and so forth, get with an evidence-based holistic-friendly physician in your community. ...Read more

Is it unhealthy for me to take these vitamins separately once per day; vitamin c, calcium, fish oil, coq10, and vitamin b?

Probably: More and more data suggests that most supplements are not so helpful especially if you eat a well balanced and plant based diet with a variety of vegetables and fruits. Calcium is trending more towards potentially dangerous in more recent studies. ...Read more

Can i take a multivitamin, fish oil, vitamin c, glucosamine and garlic supplement all at the same after a big meal?

Having colonoscopy next week. Is it critical that low dose aspirin, fish oil, multivitamin, and vitamin C be discontinued 7 days in advance?

Having colonoscopy next week. Is it critical that low dose aspirin, fish oil, multivitamin, and vitamin C be discontinued 7 days in advance?

Yes If Told Not: The Aspirin and fish oil both can thin your blood and cause bleeding issues during the procedures. Vitamins often have dyes in them that can discolor the tissues and make it difficult to accurately assess any conditions that might be present. Do you really want to go through the prep for the test to get false or inaccurate results? Follow the doctor's orders! ...Read more

I take fish oil, vitamin c, vitamin d, calcium plus vitamin d, red yeast rice, multivitamin, which of this is the most effect?

I take fish oil, vitamin c, vitamin d, calcium plus vitamin d, red yeast rice, multivitamin, which of this is the most effect?

Ca and D: Why are you taking all that junk? What do you think it will do for you? How will you know if it's working? What deficiency are you treating or what disease are you trying to prevent? There's no scientific evidence that any of that will help you except for good calcium in your diet and about 2000 units of d a day. Don't get your medical info from tv, friends or the internet. ...Read more

I take a multivitamin plus vitamin c, d, all b's with niacin and fish oil, calcium, red yeast rice, should I take the vitamin magnesium with these & why?

I take a multivitamin plus vitamin c, d, all b's with niacin and fish oil, calcium, red yeast rice, should I take the vitamin magnesium with these & why?

I don't like it.: Truth be told, I don't like combining Niacin with the red yeast rice as they can both have toxic effects upon the liver. I hope you're having your liver blood enzyme levels monitored on that combination. Adding Magnesium to all of this is not my concern as I don't see any issue in that as long as your doses of all these other medications are not excessive. ...Read more

If i take fish oil, vitamin c, b-100, vitamin d, red yeast rice, probiotics, calcium pill, do I still need a multivitamin?

Eat healthy: Depends what condition it is being taken for. Generally, a well balanced diet and regular exercise program averts the need for all of these. Interestingly, some recent research studies implicate that multivitamin intake is associated with a higher overall mortality. ...Read more
