No: Pernicious anemia is an inability to absorb vitamin b12, which is a complex process requiring an intact and functioning stomach, exocrine pancreas, intrinsic factor, and small bowel. YES!: Ppi's make it difficult for us to absorb B12 as gastric hydrochloric acid is needed to absorb B12 & minerals as well as digest protein. These drugs are dangerous to take for more than a few weeks! they increase risk of osteoporosis & serious infections. Vitamins: Are you taking replacement B12 and folate? It would be very difficult for you at 18 years old to be deficient in these vitamins unless you were alcoholic and not eating.
