Vitamin B Complex Vs Multivitamin
Is b complex vitamin good for cancer patient ? And does surbex xt medicine contain b complex vitamin?
Unknown &controversy: There is not enough science to answer this definitively. I think yes. One of the best studies was done by abam hoffer md who showed dramatic increases in survival in cancer patients who took high doses of b complex, beta carotene, e, c, selenium & zinc. See http://cancertherapies.Org/bkinfo.Htm no one has studied b vits alone. Surbex xt has four b vitamins but not the full b complex. ...Read more
Not likely unless...: Unless you're truly deficient, it's not likely that you'll find much benefit from b complex vitamins. Sure we look for B12 & folate (folic acid) deficiency in alzheimer's dementia, but I have yet to correct someone's levels & return their thinking process. If you drink alcohol to excess & forgo proper balanced nutrition, you can run low on b vitamins for which extra might be useful but this is pretty rare. ...Read more

R u zinc deficient?: Often if someone is supplementing with zinc, they need to see what their copper levels are too, since copper is supplemented at 1/10 the dose of zinc, and often what you find in your multivitamin can be sufficient. That goes along with B vitamins. So, there shouldn't be a problem if taking them together too. Have a SpectraCell micronutrient panel done to see if you need all that zinc first. ...Read more
Good question: B12 is typically given under the tongue (pill or liquid) or by shot. Although there is some B12 in b complex pills chances our its not enough or can't be properly absorbed by the last 5 inches of your small intestine. (B12 absorbtion requires first binding to intrinsic factor made in the stomach ) either the stomach is dammaged or the small intestine has a problems. B complex varies in content. ...Read more

It depends on: if you have any nutritional deficiencies, reasons for a nutritionally incomplete diet or malabsorption syndromes. Remember if you don't have any defined nutritional deficiencies you are better off getting your micronutrients like the B vitamins from whole foods rather than from supplementation. Alternatively if all you have is a B12 deficiency then you should be fine with a B12 supplement. ...Read more

Is it essential to take a multi vitamin? I'm currently taking vit d3, magesium & executive b stress formula
Absolutelynot: The majority of studies show no. Enefits from taking multivitamins unless you are deficient! in which case you should first turn to food sources to address the deficiency. Don't buy into the hype about the value of these pills. There is little to no value, and potential harm in taking them. You definitely don't need them at your age and you are probably duplicating between the products you alread. ...Read more
Depends: Different items work for different people, but many patients report a better sense of well being with a b complex vitamin, and with significant vitamin d. Depending on your latitude and sun exposure, you may or may not get enough vitamin d from sun. You could consider trying 3, 000 iu of vitamin d. Also there is some evidence to suggest that methyl folate also helps improve a person's mood. ...Read more
Is shaklee a trustworthy brand for dietary supplement such as omega 3, calcium, multi-vitamins, b-complex, vitamin c, so on?
No: Macronutrients are carbohydrates (sugars and starches), lipids (fats) and proteins. Vitamin d is none of these; it's a compound found in a few foods, but mostly made in your skin when you are exposed to sufficient sunlight. Your body uses vitamin d in many ways. Macronutrient use by your body is somewhat simpler. Carbs are for fuel. Fats are for energy storage. Proteins are building blocks. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Yes, in fact wise: No prenatal vitamin has adequate levels of vitamin d. Adults in the winter months need to take 5-8000 iu of vit d3/day to achieve optimal levels. Additional b complex is perfectly safe as long as total b6 does not exceed 200 mg (highly unlikely). Prenatal vitamins do not contain essential omega 3 fatty acids, important not only for your health but the health of your baby if you become pregnant. ...Read more
