Is Vitamin d deficiency related to Irritable Bowel Syndrome? If one has adequate sun exposure, wat else could b the reasons for vitamin D deficiency?
Liver and kidney: The active vitamin D is made from a precursor compound in the skin which, upon exposure to sun light, is converted into an intermediate metabolite that in turn needs to be further metabolized in the liver and finally in the kidney. Problem anywhere along this path can cause deficiency ...Read more
It's the cause: Pernicious anemia is caused by vitamin B12 deficiency, which is most commonly caused by lack of intrinsic factor, which is a protein that's made in your stomach. Positive mthfr heterozygous after multiple miscarriages, known pernicious anemia, what is the likelihood of having other b vitamin deficiencies?
Not more likely but: Pernicious anemia is due to problems absorbing B12 but doesn't interfere with absorbing other vits.Mthfr mutations mean you have trouble converting Folic Acid to the active form, so take l-5-mthf.Genes don't affect absorption of other b vits but due to genetics some require higher amounts of b's than others-your other issues don't mean you're more likely to have this but it's safe to try b complex. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Please what's the difference between pernicious anemia and vitamin B12 deficiency.my iron levels are perfect.I'm getting injections for vitamin b12.
Intrinsic factor: Vitamin B12 is present in meat and animal protein foods. Absorption of B12 occurs in the intestine (ileum) and requires intrinsic factor (IF), made by stomach cells. In pernicious anemia, IF production is deficient, and results in anemia, a reduction in hemoglobin/hematocrit. One can be vitamin B12 deficient without becoming anemic and/or without having deficient IF. Best wishes:) ...Read more
Is it essential to take a multi vitamin? I'm currently taking vit d3, magesium & executive b stress formula
Absolutelynot: The majority of studies show no. Enefits from taking multivitamins unless you are deficient! in which case you should first turn to food sources to address the deficiency. Don't buy into the hype about the value of these pills. There is little to no value, and potential harm in taking them. You definitely don't need them at your age and you are probably duplicating between the products you alread. ...Read more
