Hi I'm 21 yrs girl n I never used any vitamins for the pass 10+ yrs... what kind of vitamins do u recommended for me to use?

First, healthy diet: Most experts recommend you get the nutrients you need from a widely varied diet high in veggies, fruits, whole grains, nuts & healthy oils. Most people don't eat like this, though. At your age, you need to especially include vit D & calcium, especially if you don't drink milk/eat yogurt, & folic acid, especially if your are considering pregnancy. A multivit with B complex, C & iron would be ok:) ...Read more

Can you rec some vitamins and herbal supplements or OTC drugs that can help kick heroine addiction?

There aren't any: The chances of an individual kicking on one's own is very, very low. Opioid withdrawal results in widespread pain, chills, aches/pains, diarrhea and vomiting, as well as anxiety and insomnia. It is usually too severe by day 2-3 for people to stand it, and they use again. Some meds can help a little (tylenol, motrin, pepto bismol) but real help means a doctor helping you. Please get into treatment. ...Read more

I take flax oil, d3, cinnamon, multi vitamin, quecertin/c, e. Can I safely take something else to protect against illness?

Possibly: The supplements you mention are ok, but nothing really prevents illness like a good diet and exercise regimen. Also getting a good night's sleep every night to keep stress at a minimum also helps. Would recommend a b-complex and calcium in addition to the above, but check your vitamin d level periodically with your doctor to make sure you don't have too much. ...Read more

How (neuro) toxic and eventually life threatening is excess amount of tyrosine in the absence or very low presence of vitamin c?

Confusion here: Tyrosine is an amino acid, helpful in certain brain and mood disorders when taken as a supplement. Vitamin c is a water soluble vitamin, rarely measured accurately, considered safe to 5000 mg/ day supplementation by a famous physician who remained healthy and researching until his late 90's. A low vitamin c level can be corrected immediately. Your problems sound vascular/ hormonal, not toxic. ...Read more

Vitamin B12 1000 mcg, what is the half life on this vitamin and how long until it's out of your system?

No useful half life.: Typical half life does not make much sense since the vitamin is not strictly "metabolized." It is taken up by tissues and converted by tissues to the active form- methylcobalamin. Stored in liver and bone marrow- less so in other organs. Once these sites are full, the remainder is excreted at a rate dependent upon state of hydration, other meds, etc. ...Read more

Is it possible to die from overdosing on gummy vitamins?

No- unless with iron: The only ingredient potentially found in gummy vitamins that could cause a lethal overdose is iron. However, most gummy vitamins do not contain iron- I actually searched quite a bit and could not find any. This is likely to prevent overdose problems. And if they did you would have to take a huge amount- a lethal dose is at least 60 mg/kg, so an overdose for a 50 lb person would be about 1400 mg. ...Read more
