Visual aura is the appearance in the visual field of light or bright spots that may shimmer or have wavy lines. Aura often appear at the outset of a migraine attack, and precede the onset of a headache.

I've had three visual auras right upon waking up within the month. Seeing a neurologist soon. Any insight into waking and having the visual aura?

They do this: they can occur on awakening. There is really nothing unusual about this. Auras are most commonly caused by migraines.
