I am on the beta-blocker pindolol and was wondering if I do drink, what effects would it cause?

L5-s1 shows annular tear and a central protrusion touching both s1 roots and thecal sac.No effacement or deformity. Nerve roots exit normally.

Your question is?: If the disc is worsening and causing weakness, muscular atrophy and/or numbness, and especially if initiation of urination is troublesome, need to have a spinal surgeon involved. Otherwise, conservative therapies may be successful. An EMG test may determine extent of nerve damage at this point and act as a baseline. ...Read more

Large L5S1 disc extrusion compressing L5 nerve & s1s2 nerve roots.sciatica&numbness in foot. can I swim or will it aggravate problem.

TimeOfStrifeSeeKnife: Swimming is a good idea but just go easy at first and see how you do. You'll know if you overdid it if you get too sore within 48 hours (at your tender age). Might be a good idea to get an instructor or therapist to help you at the beginning, if possible--even a friend. And be sure to exercise the arms and chest. Breast stroke with a gentle kick. If bulging disc pressing against thecal sac/transversing nerve extrudes downward, does nucleus flow down pressing against nerve or can it seep, around nerve? If seep, can traction pull damage nerve?

Disc herniation: When a disc herniates and causes pressure against a nerve, pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness can result. Not only can the disc material cause mechanical compression, but it can also incite an inflammatory reaction that can irritate the neural elements. Traction or tension on a nerve that may be tethered against a herniated disc can also cause sciatic-type pain from a bow-stringing effect. ...Read more

Is pindolol safe with a low heart rate?

Maybe not: If heart rate is already less than 60, and a beta blocker (pindolol) is to be added, then heart rate willbe further lowered, possibly enough to case side effects or decrease cardiac output. That depends on: How serious it is and what drugs or medications were taken. Overdoses are often treated initially in an emergency room. The person is monitored and often they have intravenous fluids. If they stopped breathing - a tube can be inserted to assist with breathing. Sometimes they are given charcoal to absorb the drugs and sometimes their stomach is "pumped". They may need to be given medications. ...Read more

Is it ok to take pindolol while breastfeeding?
