Viruses That Create Painful Lumps On Head Lyme Disease
Diagnosed w/ Lyme disease, bartonella, & babesia. Have noticed increasingly stiff & painful neck w/ head pain & pressure for past 3 days w/ fever ranging btwn 99.6 & 100.5. Are these symptoms typical?
YOU ARE NOT 15 MIN!: I agree that you should not assume the neck pain is Lyme spasms, and get to ER. We would like to propose that while Babesia can raise temps, Bartonella can be immunosuppressive-floats in blood--you do not die. A fever with Bartonella I would take seriously. My wise MD friend is right. If 3 infections--missed one? ER. As Fallon, MD Columbia recently posted-ticks are infection bus-over 1-3 bugs. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

The former causes a targetoid rash and can infect just about any organ system including the eye, joints, heart, and brain if left untreated. It is transmitted to humans by a deer tick. West Nile virus is transmitted by a mosquito and in most cases is asymptomatic. 20% get rash / fever. Encephalitis is rare. ...Read more

Does my risk of Lyme disease increase if the tick head gets stuck in the skin during the removal process?
Lyme Disease: Only blacklegged ticks in the highly endemic areas of the northeastern and north central U.S. Are commonly infected. Finally, blacklegged ticks need to be attached for at least 24 hours before they can transmit lyme disease. This is why it's so important to remove them promptly and to check your body daily for ticks if you live in an endemic area. ...Read more
Not uncommon: May have been a wood tick and not a deer tick. Not all deer ticks are infected with the lyme organism. ...Read more

Can a person with Lyme disease pass it to their children? Can the father whom is infected with the virus pass it onto his children during conception?
Yes and yes: If the mother has lyme disease, it can be passed to the fetus during pregnancy. If the infected mother is treated with a conservative dose of antibiotics during preg, lyme doesn't circulate so doesn't infect fetus. Infected male partner can pass the infection through semen to partner. Lyme is a bacterium not a virus. ...Read more
Stiff neck/shoulders, fatigue, muscle twitches, ear/jaw pain and stiffness, headaches/head pressure, very sore muscles waking up. Lyme disease?
Not likely: You may have fibromyalgia. You need to discuss this with your physician and possibly see a rheumatologist. This is unlikely to be Lyme disease but there are other possibilities in the differential diagnosis that need to be confirmed. Your evaluation will include examination, lab studies and maybe imaging. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
5 days sore throat, severe body/joint ache & fever (100-102). Thought it was strep or virus, but today I find a bullseye-like bite on my trunk. Can it be Lyme disease? Is it too early for blood test?
Epidemiology : When early lyme is suspected, the diagnosis is based on clinical grounds. Taking a picture of the rash & having a doctor examine it before it disappear is advisable. Other things can cause a bulls eye rash such as a fixed drug eruption, southern tick-associated rash illness, etc. Early recognition is very important. It's too early for an antibody blood test. Epidemiology will help your doc answer. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Symptoms of long-standing Lyme disease have been dealing with for years inflammed jointed skin problems etc live in P. A by woods been tested neg.
What is the question: I don't see a question here. Also, I don't see any information about treatment for Lyme, were you given antibiotics. Lyme disease can manifest with acute and chronic signs and symptoms, you should be treated either by an ID specialist or your primary doctor if its comfortable. Blood work testing for lyme can be confusing but sure helps for accurate diagnosis, make sure they test for others. ...Read more
Lyme disease is known to cause every possible symptom including hair loss. However, this could also be related to hypothyroidism (which Lyme can cause) and nutrient deficiencies (esp. zinc, very common in Lyme patients) may play a role too. You might also have heavy metal toxicity.
