Viral Causes Of Cancer
Can chronic sinituitis be viral and cause high lymphocytes 52% n low neutrophils 33% absolute #'s were in normal range though? Scared of cancer
Numbers fine: Those numbers are fine for your lymphocyte and neutrophil percentages. You can have virus infections that hold on for a while causing symptoms, but more likely the chronic symptoms are caused by allergies. I would work with your doc or and ENT to determine cause of your chronic symptoms, and then add if an allergist if felt to be allergic in nature. ...Read more
Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more
Neither: Cancer can be caused by the long-standing inflammation in tissues affected by certain viruses (i.e. Hpv, hcv) and bacteria (i.e. H.Pylori), but cancer itself is not an infectious organism. Had viral infection 3 weeks ago symptoms are gone except 1 tonsil is still big could this be a cancer of some sort? theres no pain.or could be normal
How big?: Some asymmetry in the size of paired organs is normal. If there are no symptoms, you may wish to watch and wait. if the tonsil does not get bigger, does not ulcerate or bleed, you may leave it alone. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

What would high WBC (14.6) + high abs gran (9.3)+ high abs mono (1.8) be symptomatic of? Bacterial, viral, immune or could it possibly be cancer?
High : Granulocyte counts points to stress or bacterial infection. CBC interpertations need to be viewed in context of history and physical exam (go back to your doctor that ordered the test), and cannot deliver an answer in isolation. Uncommonly some tumors cause such results. And sometimes it is normal on next draw. ...Read more
Can viral infections be diagnosed by a high white blood cell count assuming blood cancers are not a factor?
Yes: Viral infections can cause relatively high white cells, mostly lymphocytes. Look at the whole blood counts, white, red cells, size and shape. And platelets. Any nodes, fever, sweats, weight change, bleeding, sore throat....? Do not put your self in a corner. Think outside the box. Discuss with your md. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Wbc 16 and esr 19 slightly high for 3 months igE 191 ldh normal viral infections with fever every month for 1 year should I be concerned about cancer?
Stop worrying: Sed rate and CRP are in my opinion (as a lab specialist) worthless as screens for serious disease if the history and physical are basically normal. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on the high end. WBC 16,000 can result from a cold shower -- if you feel okay, all that really matters is whether the cells all look normal. IgE 191 IU/mL is normal. ...Read more
Not really: Hpv has many subtypes and has become so prevalent that it can be likely passed without sexual contact. The good news is hpv associated head and neck cancer appears less aggressive than it's non hpv counterparts. Hpv associated throat cancer would not be considered a sexually transmitted disease, but exposure to the virus prior to forming the cancer might occur through sexual transmission. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Globus sensation?: Do you experience the feeling of a ball or lump in the back of your throat that you have to swallow past? If so, this is "globus." Genetic mutations: All cancers result from the accumulation of genetic mutations. The genes have a natural tendency to mutate, making life as we know it possible, and there's background radiation and chemicals that are part of nature and inescapable. Specific cancers have various hereditary (inherit a bad gene) and environmental (mutagen) causes; anything can promote by making mutated cells divide. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
