Dmma was designed as a nasal decongestant but is a powerful stimulant that may have caused a number of deaths. It is a banned olympic additive. You don't need this! ...Read more

High Hb a1c: You need to go to an endocrinologist (e) to see if your diet needs to be changed. The regimen of medicines you take to control your diabetes is clearly not working and this may be due to inadequate dosing or ingesting too many carbohydrates. If you reduce your bmi, there is a chance to control your glucose better. Get your glucose under control to avoid harmful complications of diabetes, see an e. ...Read more

Mucle testing: Inflammatory myopathy, including polymyositis, is best diagnosed and treated by a trained rheumatologist. Symptoms are proximal muscle weakness. Abnormal lab tests include elevated muscle enzymes (CPK, AST/ALT); positive antibody tests, including Jo-1; abnormal EMG/nerve conduction test; edema seen on an MRI of proximal muscles; muscle biopsy showing destruction and regeneration of muscle cells. ...Read more

Autoimmune pancreatitis how dx? random lipase spikes & do not drink/do drugs. positive ANA - igG1 is low -facial bx chronic swelling -vit d defcnt

Biopsy Needed: Autoimmune pancreatitis is a rare type of chronic pancreatitis. On CAT scan, it sometimes looks like a pancreatic mass. I saw a patient who was thought to have pancreatic cancer. but her biopsy showed autoimmune pancreatitis. Sometimes autoimmune pancreatitis is part of IGG4-related systemic disease, and can mimic other diseases like sjogrens. Since you also have facial swelling, consider this dx ...Read more

Is there a generic drug that compares to onglyza (saxagliptin)? It's very costly. I also take metformin 500 tid & glucotrol ER 10 bid.

No: Unfortunately not. The best way to reduce the cost of medicines for type 2 diabetes is to work on your diet and lose weight so you can be weaned off of some of your medicines. Talk with your doctor about diabetes education classes or seeing a nutritionist. Also, make sure you are exercising, it helps your body's tissues use the glucose in your blood and helps control your blood sugar. ...Read more

Fasting insulin is 30uu even after metformin 1000-not diabetic. -random insulin was 55uu. doc says its insulin resistance.can it be insulinoma?

Unlikely: Insulinoma is exceedingly rare. High insulin levels alone do not point to insulinoma. High insulin AND low blood sugar at the same time is a better sign. The workup is complicated and should be work up by a physician. ...Read more

Get a second opinion: I do not understand your health problem because we need a lot more information to make a correct diagnosis of such rare conditions as you have listed. I would advise you to seek a second opinion from a hematologist /oncologist in order to find out what exactly is wrong with you, before taking such powerful medicines as you have listed.. ...Read more

Fatigue studies (CFS?): Merit of mitochondrial tests e.g. ATP-ATP, ANT/AAC, Mg-ATP, mito. O2 util., Zn/Cu-SOD, Mn-SOD, GSHPx? Any viable treatments?

No proven Rx: CFS remains a puzzling problem and there is no specific test to pinpoint the cause. I have a feeling that your tests were ordered by someone not in traditional medicine . There are many ways people with CFS may obtain relief but supplements (if that doctor wants to sell you some ) are not likely to offer proven benefits. . ...Read more

Type 1 diabetic actively exercising & healthy eating looking for right lantus (insulin glargine) dose.

See endocrinologist: The best way for your doctor to determine your optimal insulin doses is for you to check your sugars before each meal and at bedtime. Write them down and take them to see your endocrinologist. Most type 1 diabetics need an endocrinologist for optimal management, though some primary care doctors are also very good at managing diabetes. ...Read more
