Vicodin And Antibiotics
Root canal 7/27. Tooth 30. antibiotics, Vicodin, steroids. Jaw pain excruciating. Can't open mouth much. Ear hurts. Endo says needs time. All okay.
Be patient: Your endodontist is probably right in suggesting patience as it is nearing time, more than a week, to start seeing improvement in pain and swelling with the medications you are on. I would say wait until Monday for a reassessment by your endodontist for any complication. ...Read more
Severe pain after root canal sensative to hot cold n pressure still. On antibiotics for a week n vicodin for pain but still very painful what do I do?
Yes: Opiate-induced constipation is often better managed initially with a stool softener like colace (docusate sodium) or surfak, holding laxatives like senna for a second if twice daily stool softeners aren't effective. Antibiotics may produce diarrhea, so you need to be careful that you not use too much laxative, since the results may be (literally) explosive. ...Read more
Took 1/2 a vicodin for bad tooth pain, feeling anxious about it. Taking it with antibiotic, but afraid of narcotics. Anything to worry about?
No Contraindications: Those 2 medications are not known to be contraindicated with each others use; however, I agree with the other doctor above that this behavior may not be good, unless you have already seen a dentist and were prescribed these medications for an imminent procedure that will fix your obvious tooth problem. Make sure you are taking care of yourself, get your tooth fixed asap-you don't want to lose it. ...Read more
I got a root canal done, and my face was swollen 2 days after, taking antibiotics and vicodin, its now been 5 days and still have swelling. Help?
Had surgery 9/22 and was given an IV antibiotic after surgery plus have been on Colace (docusate sodium) and Vicodin. Does this cause yellow stools? Stopped Colace (docusate sodium).
The backside of my left ear and my head surrounding it is numb. I've been battling a toothache for 5 days now. Taking antibiotic and vicadin.
Toothache battle: Are you under the care of a dentist? If not, you're fighting a losing battle. Antibiotics will not resolve your tooth issues, and numbness as you described can indicate a rapidly spreading infection. You need to be seen immediately by a dentist, preferably an oral surgeon. ...Read more
Toothache, went to ER was perscribed norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 5/325 and antibiotic, pain is still real bad, can't see dentist till thursday what can I do?
NSAID: This class of pain meds will work in conjunction with the Norco to provide better pain relief if doses are alternated with your existing prescription. Meds in this category include ibuprofen, Naproxen and many others. Brand names such as advil or aleve (naproxen) are 2 examples of the 2 that I mentioned. ...Read more
I have a sinus infection and on an antibiotic and norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) for pain. I threw up undigested food hours after I ate or took meds. Is this normal?
It depends: Your question is somewhat vague. All medications when appropriately prescribed for its indication and taken as directed by a physician should not be a problem. Vicodin is hydrocodone and Acetaminophen and is indicated for moderate to severe pain. The issue is the misuse/abuse of the medication. It has the potential for physical dependence, cause respiratory depression when taken in excess & death. ...Read more
In person evaluation: If you need a prescription for an opioid like Vicodin, you need to seek an inperson evaluation for appropriateness. An online physician source isn't a feasible, or appropriate, mechanism for something like this. I do wish you the best of luck though and hope your issue can be addressed sooner rather than later. ...Read more

Itching can occur.: Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone (an opioid analgesic) and Acetaminophen (tylenol), all opioids can cause itching. It is a side effect and not necessarily associated with an allergic reaction. Since everyone reacts slightly differently to drugs, another opioid analgesic might produce less itching. ...Read more
Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone and Acetaminophen (tylenol). It is a schedule 3 controlled substance. Tramadol works for pain in several ways including binding to the same receptors as hydrocodone (the mu receptor).
I would use tramadol for mild to moderate pain and vicodin for moderate to severe pain. ...Read more
