My 4 month old baby is congested can I use Vicks vapor rub I use the Vicks vaporizer it helps sometimes
Probably.: My mother was a huge vicks fan; anytime my nose was close to running, i would get dipped in a huge vat of vicks, and then she would slide me into bed like a salami. Avoid aromas: I am fine with a misting vaporizer for any kid with congestion. However, i consider Vicks as air pollution and likely to produce more airway irritation in infants.I seldom recommend this product, and limit it to kids over 6 years if i do. Your better therapy at 1 monts is bountiful use of nasal saline drops and nasal suction. ...Read more
I never recommend it: Any pungent odor or fume can cause increasing congestion in an infant. I equate vicks to cigarette smoke in young infants. It has little if any value at any age and never before age 3-6yrs. This is a throwback to the sweat lodges of the indians and should be abandoned along with leaches. ...Read more
Choices: The use of humidifiers/vaporizers is very helpful for both adults and children and not just for colds! Air conditioning/heating takes the moisture out of the air in our home. Sleeping with vaporizer can help reduce dry mouth, nasal congestion and can help your facial skin rejuvenate as it's most active at night.
