Vicks Baby Rub
I never recommend it: Any pungent odor or fume, whether rubbed on or placed in a vaporizer can cause increasing congestion in an infant. I equate vicks to cigarette smoke in young infants. It has little if any value at any age and never before age 3-6yrs. This is a throwback to the sweat lodges of the indians and should be abandoned along with leaches. ...Read more
Vicks: Although the package recommends applying to your baby's chest neck and back, it is perfectly safe to use on the feet. In fact, i've had patients tell me it works better when applied to their babies feet. Keep in mind, however, then no over-the-counter remedy can guarantee symptom relief. ...Read more
I wouldn't: I don't use this material on a kid this age at any location because of the fumes.I find it has no valuable contribution to an infants well being at all, no matter what grandma may say. ...Read more

Not on skin: I wouldn't advise putting full strength vicks on the baby's skin, but it would be ok to use it on the clothing. You might do better to use the tablets that dissolve in the shower, and sit with your baby in the steamy bathroom with the shower running and do a 'sauna treatment' if the baby is congested. You can also use any way to increase humidity in the home, like a humidifier. Clean daily! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Go see ur Family Doc: I will defer to my more learned colleagues as to whether you should lactate your infant or not in your current situation. However, I'm more concerned that you haven't been evaluated & treated for possible cellulitis (some antibiotics should not be taken when lactating). So my priority is to urge you to get seen now. ...Read more
