Some Differences: Veterinary anesthesia uses some dissociative meds similar to ketamine or pcp which tend to be not popular in people because of hallucinations and psychosis. They are quite effective but the animals can't complain of hallucinations.Also the animals behavior can be cute to watch on emergence. Opioids can be used. In general: Anesthesia related drugs are more potent and may act on the central nervous system more broadly than a "pain killer" would. Some anesthetics inhibit (muscle) movement and may cause sedation, or even sleep. These effects are not typical of pure "pain killers.". ...Read more

It's a long road...: In the U.S., it would require 10-12 years of training. First, you would need to complete medical school (4yrs). Contact/irritant: Zoonoses, for those who don't know, are animal diseases that can be transmitted to humans. This doesn't sound like a zoonosis. It sounds like you're coming in contact with an allergen or direct skin irritant, and you'll have to do some detective work to uncover the culprit. If you let a dermatologist have a look, he/she may be able to determine the cause just by its appearance & distribution. ...Read more
