If you had it checked out, and it's not growing, it's probably nothing to worry about. ...Read more
Swollen painful lymph node in neck, started after taking spironolactone 50mg, QD. NOT sick. No other symptoms.
Is this a norm sideeffect of this med?
Not from medication: A swollen tender lymph gland is highly unlikely to be from taking a new medication. Lymph glands are situated around the body and serve to trap infectious organisms(bacteria or viruses) to prevent their spread to other areas in the body. A swollen gland will often decrease in size if there is no ongoing infection. Any swollen glands persisting after a month should by examined by a physician. ...Read more
Sudden enlargement of lymph node in neck, 1 inch.very painful. Low grade fevers are also present. Possibly serious or just fighting something minor?
May need antibiotics: If a lymph node in the neck suddenly increases in size to one inch, over a time period of 1-2 days, there may be an infection such as strep throat, or there may be a bacterial infection in the lymph node without strep throat. In either case, the doctor may want to prescribe antibiotics if his evaluation suggests a bacterial (meaning not viral) infection. ...Read more

Lymph Node Swelling: Greetings. An enlarged lymph node should be evaluated and treated. In my practice, I would treat you with an antibiotic. After 14 days, the node should have shrunk in size. If it was still enlarging, then an image guided biopsy would be ordered. The sooner you are evaluated, the sooner you are treated. Good Luck. ...Read more
