Ventricular Ectopy Causes
Ectopy: Benign type ventricular ectopy in an otherwise normal heart rarely is associated with sudden death. If the situation changes so that the previously benign ectopy continues to exist but now within a diseased myocardium, the situation is altered. ...Read more
What does "very rare atrial and ventricular ectopy" mean as a conclusion to a holter monitor report?
Probably normal: It is very common for most people to have some extra heart beats on a holter monitor. These ectopic or skipped beats could originate from the upper heart chamber (atrial) or lower heart chamber (ventricular). If these are isolated / single beats and infrequent, they usually are benign and not a concern and do not require further treatment. Call you doc if you have further questions. ...Read more
I went for an exercise test for wpw and was told there was a lot of ventricular ectopy on 24hr moniter and extra waves on ecg- what does this mean?
Discuss with MD: Nl elect syst: signal for Heart Beat starts Rt atrium & goes to Ventricles&activates Ventricles to beat. In WPW more than one path to Vent& CAN cause heart to go fast suddenly. If U have WPW (born w it) U may only see funny ECG complex dep on path. But if UR rate suddenly gone fast, paths R causng a circu rhythm. Needs corrected by EP MD. Meds no help. Good If Stress not cause very fast rate. ...Read more
Halter monitor for palps. No pauses, no ventricular ectopy. Symptoms did not correlate with ECG changes 62 BPM bradycardia episodes no answer for palp?
Ventricular irritab: Assuming you are referring to pvc's or premature ventricular contractions - besides myocardial ischemia the most common cause I see is caffeine ingestion - followed by stimulant ingestion ie pseudofed. Cocaine and other illicit drugs as well as add drugs can cause irritability as well. Elimination of these will generally solve the problem if not its time to see a cardiologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Cellular level: Irritability refers to enhanced ability of the heart cells to generate an electrical impulse (known as action potential). This happens when a substance referred to as cyclic amp increases in the heart cell causing increased entry of calcium into the cell. With increased calcium, the heart cell both fire impulses rapidly as well as contract vigorously. I will go over some of the causes next. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I on metosartan 50 mg for 2 years for overleft ventricular entropy. Creatinine level is 1.2 against 0.9 a year ago. Is this a cause for concern?
SVT ectopy: It refers to extra beats from the top chambers of the heart or atria. They are caused by an transient imbalance in the ionic channels of cardiac cells or abnormal conduction. Typically, the sodium channel is the affect one. This has nothing to do with serum levels of sodium. However, high blood pressure can lead to elevated atrial pressure which can induce ectopy from the left atrium. ...Read more
More information: Since you mention right (morphological) ventricle, I am thinking you are referring to a congenital heart defect, perhaps ventricular inversion or corrected transposition. Please tell me more so I can provide some helpful information for you. ...Read more
Vfib: Ventricular fibrillation causes the heart to not contract, blood flow to the body ceases and the patient will die if normal or contractile rhythm isn't returned. Sweating is a response to low blood pressure. When blood pressure drops with atrial fibrillation patients may have sweating. Ventricular fibrillation long enough to cause perceived sweating unlikely unless reversed to better rhythm. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My Echo showed borderline normal left ventricular with global hypokinesis what could possibly cause this. EF 50-55%?
Need risk review.:
Hypokinesis means that the muscle mass in the heart is less active than expected. Now is it really an issue or is it just by chance.
Low blood supply to heart can be one of the reason, besides this sometimes low metabolic states and depression can lead to hypokinesis. You need to see a cardiologist who will discuss your risk profile and then see what is the possibility and suggest further. ...Read more
What are the chances I will eventually get symptoms caused by my wpw? Left ventricular connection. Asymptomatic, diagnosed during a medical. Age20 male
Not really pulseless: When VT occurs at a fast enough rate, there is inadequate time for ventricular filling, cardiac output falls, and blood pressure falls. You may not be able to palpate a pulse but an arterial line would show a waveform that is reduced in amplitude. Rate is the key. As tissue perfusion fails, acidosis, hypoxemia and hyperkalemia result leading to ventricular fibrillation and death. ...Read more
