1 leg has some veins that bruise easily & they are slow to heal (4-10 weeks). Why? No varicose veins. Non-smoker. Norm weight. Slight high platelets.

Several Things.: The most common cause of veins bursting and bleeding would be trauma. Other causes could be the taking of blood thinners such as Coumadin (warfarin) but also nsaids, aspirin, fish oil, flaxseed oil, plavix, etc.Another cause could be blood problem resulting in an inability to clot. More likely a muscle: If you have pain when touching the area, it is more likley to by a mild injury to your sternocleidomastoid muscle. Venous return.: It would seem that your condition and symptoms are related to venous pressure. Standing slows the return, therefore the color intensifies. Elevation assists the return, therefore, the color fades. You need to see a vein specialist to see if there is an associated vessel problem or is the problem due to trauma. ...Read more

Maybe (not): Go see your doctor. Bruising without reason is also worrisome for clotting disorders. This can be exacerbated from excess Aspirin or other over-the-counter anti-inflammatories. Connective tissue disorder has nothing to do w/visible veins under pale skin. That's just genetics & nothing to worry about. But bruising/bleeding easily should definitely be checked out. ...Read more

Possbily: The biggest concern is rupture and bleeding externally. i would seek medical attention for unusual pain , swelling and any sign of bleeding. i would also recommend calling your PCP if you have any concerns. ...Read more

It'll be OK: Odds are it will be OK without needing to see a doctor. It will probably take a few weeks to resolve. The discoloration will probably spread as well and you may even see it as far down as your ankle.
