Girl, 6, allergic to nuts 40, 80 kua/l, soy 4, 62 kua/l and others.
Should we avoid soy lecithin? What about food that "may contain traces of soy"?
Lecithin is safe.: Now for the "traces of soy" question: it all depends on the reaction that triggered the soy allergy discovery. If she had a severe reaction when she ate something which contained soy, then you have to be careful with those products. Be extra careful. They are warning you. Would you feed it to her if it said "this may poison your child." now, if her reactions were mild, see comment below. ...Read more
Yes: By definition. If you want to become a vegan for moral reasons, be sure you know exactly what you are doing, and take the supplements you need, or you will ruin your health quickly. The vegan industry is full of both very good and upstanding people, and also shameless crooks and liars. Be warned. ...Read more
8 wk old milk/soy protein allergy -on neocate, &allergic to rice. Showed similar reaction to nutra that contained rice/corn starch-allergic to starch?
Milk Allergy: Allergies are due to a reaction to protein. Corn is a starch or carbohydrate. If you infant reacted to nutra, it would not be from reacting to the starch. I assume the reaction was either eczema or bloody stools, not gas or a change in stools. If the reaction was not eczema or bloody stools, your baby may be intolerant and not allergic. ...Read more
Help, son 15 months old, opened whole fish oil 1000mg,wheat germ 100 mg per caps,2 caps and ingested, mouth smells fish, don't think mercury free?
Child should be ok: Fish oil caps are intended for maintenance use and if mercury content was high, it would not be safe for adults either. About 6 oz of wild salmon will provide about 2000 mg of DHA, and it is thought that infants over 6 months can have up to 3 oz a week, so avoid further fish in your infants diet for the next few weeks to be sure. ...Read more
Are things found in supplement capsules bad for you? i'm thinking cellulose, magnesium stearate, silica and gelatin.
Not useful: The so-called supplement capsule are not and will not do any good for you, other than lightening your wallet. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more
REALLY UNHEALTHY!!!: This is recipe for disaster. Potatoes are in the environmental working group's dirty dozen foods-they're high in pesticides if not organic & are readily converted to sugar so raise blood sugar, causing weight gain & increased risk of diabetes. Generic "vegetable oil" is almost certainly corn, soy or canola which are all gmo if not organic & very toxic, fried potatoes have carcinogenic acrylamides. ...Read more

How much?: Did he take a whole fish oil capsule or just swallow some liquid- I don't think that should be a problem Same for the wheat germ- I would feed him normally and if he has vomiting, diarrhea or does not poop in the next 24 hours to take him to your local doctor. I take flp product containing stabilized aloevera gel, fructose, natural cranberry and apple juice, sorbitol, ascorbic and citric acids. What are uses?
Many uses: I'm curious why you're taking a product you don't know the use for. The active ingredient is aloe vera gel- everything else is for flavor or preservatives. Aloe vera has many proven health benefits- it helps reduce inflammation, lowers blood sugar & cholesterol, soothes inflamed GI tracts, etc. You might look for aloe with less added sugars.
