Why supplements?: Your thyroid and adrenals are precisely regulated by the pituitary and other factors. If your thyroid and adrenal are functioning normally, then you don't need supplements, and they will not help you. If your thyroid or adrenals are underactive, then you need to take hormone replacement. Best done by a doctor who knows about this (eg. An endocrinologist). Probably not helpful: True adrenal gland extract would contain some hormones including epinephrine which might escape digestion and increase your heart rate and blood pressure among other things. But most of it would be digested and have no effect. The "extract" they use is from untested, and unregulated sources and is unlikely to contain anything of value, let alone medical value. Not good combination: Consult you doctor before doing anything, versus self medicate especially with your thyroid condition not being stabilized and taking migraine meds. Licorice can increase cortisol levels and make your migraines worse. Always better to be safe than sorry. Can also call your pharmacist to ask about drug/herb/supplement interaction for more information. ...Read more

Hard to digest: Many people advocate eating "raw foods" as they believe it has more enzymes & nutrients, but some foods are difficult to digest when raw and wheat is one of them. Most vegan cookie dough has wheat. When was the last time you ate raw flour? Probably: Becoming a vegan is moral high-ground and it is safe if, and only if, you know exactly what you are doing. Otherwise it is extremely dangerous, and you can end up with permanent brain damage in a few months. Vegans lose weight primarily because the food they eat isn't very interesting, and the other health claims mostly aren't true. Why not just eat sensibly and find some fitness friends? ...Read more

Optimal health: You can be very healthy. Eat whole grains, quinoa, nuts, fruits, veggies, yogurt, beans, soy or tofu, eggs. Drink a healthy beverage: Fusion V8, Silk. Have a bit of dairy. B12 can be low: in vegetarians of any sort. We get most of it from meat. Centuries ago our body metabolism was different and our vegetation more nutritious.
