Vaseline For Scars
I only have ibuprofen... Is that okay? Will Vaseline help prevent scarring/permanent discoloration? It's all along the side of my face. I have both Neosporin and Vaseline. Should I apply a dressing afterward, or allow it to air dry? Sorry for so many
? Scarring?: How did this happen to you? How long ago? How deep are the cuts? A superficial cut (which only cuts the epidermis) will heal without scar. Deeper cuts may well scar. Ibuprofen is for pain and inflammation and neosporin is to prevent infection. You can see a cosmetic dermatologist or a facial plastic surgeon for more advice. ...Read more

How do I get rid of scars? I have many of them on my legs and I've tried lemons, and honey, and vaseline, but they're still there
Sorry, you can't: Get rid of scars. No surgeon, surgical technique, laser, cream, or magic potion in existence today can completely eliminate or remove scars. Skillful and judicious plastic surgery can often improve them, but you get a new scar (hopefully better) replacing the old one. Always. Staying out of the sun will help avoid hyperpigmentation of immature (new) scars. Sorry, but that's the truth! ...Read more
My skin is red from benzoyl peroxide I have stopped its use can I apply baby powder to my face, I am applying Vaseline twice a day on the red scars?
Use an oil-free moisturizer, something that won't clog up your pores more. Using Vaseline or baby powder is not recommended. Use a good sunscreen, at least 15 SPF. I usually recommend a facial moisturizer that contains a sunscreen so it won't feel greasy.
You may want to try a lower strength benzoyl peroxide for your acne or ask your doctor for a different medication. ...Read more

Probably bad.: The vaseline only keeps the area moist which would delay healing and it doesn't kill the virus. Abreva is what would work better for cold sore when you first feel the tingle in the lip area. It keeps the area dry to heal faster. Valtrex (valacyclovir) used at initial onset is good systemically, but best combo with abreva. You can also use laser treatment at initial tingling onset also with your dentist. ...Read more
KInd of: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation (red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected from trauma. Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected. ...Read more
