Son has a vascular cyst on Palm where thumb meets the hand. Can't afford 'surgery' can it be drained?
A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. They may develop nearly anywhere in the body and usually require complete excision for eradication or they are likely to recur. Fluid filled sacs that are not cellular lined ...Read more
Son has a vascular cyst on Palm where thumb meets the hand. Can't afford 'surgery' can it be drained? It's full of clear fluid little red dot in cente
NO: These can't be drained - the fluid will just re-accumulate. There's no problem waiting to get it done as long as the lesion is not open and at risk of infection. You may even want to talk to a pediatric dermatologist specializing in vascular lesions. Some of these can be done now by laser and may not even require surgery, but you need to talk that over with a specialist who deals with them a lot ...Read more
Complex cyst on left ovary with thickened walls and increased vascularity surrounding cyst. Is this normal or malignant? Dr didn't mention finding.
Given your age, it is most likely to be benign. It should be followed with another ultrasound in 3-6 months. If it persists, or causes pain, or has other findings, surgical intervention may be needed.

Findings at ER: left ovary contains heterogeneous peripherally vascular 2.5cm cyst. Right ovary has 2.0cm heterogeneous cyst. MUCH pain. What's next?
Options: For young women with a newly found cyst (or cysts) and bad pain - as long as they aren't too large (usually less than 7cm) we typically recommend allowing 6 weeks for the cysts to go away on their own - and then doing another sono to check and see if they are gone. Sometimes a cyst can twist, or "torse" and that requires emergency surgery. If pain is severe, and meds don't help, surgery is option. ...Read more

What would cause increased vascularity and inflammatory changes of the soft tissue surrounding a baker's cyst?
Hi, I went for an external and internal ultrasound, and they found 4 cysts. He mentioned one of them looked vascular. What does that mean?
More Info Please!: What is your age? If you are menstruating, where were you on your cycle when you were studied? Why were you sent for the sono? Presumably the, "Cysts" were cyclic ovarian cysts. The one that was vascular COULD be a corpus luteum which forms after an egg is released and before the menses start. It is likely that a followup sono will be done to confirm resolution (disappearance) of the cysts. ...Read more
Had TVUS to recheck 4.4 cm simple cyst. Cyst is same size now has multiple thin septations. Anechoic, no solid areas, no vascularization. Serious?
Probably not: But obviously, you should ask the doctor who ordered the study. Such things should be followed over time and often nothing is done unless there are changes. ...Read more

What does a Lt ovarian complex cyst showing internal septation with homogenous echogenic texture with no vascularity mean. Please help. Thanks.
Not simply water: Ovarian cysts come in different flavors. The simple ovarian cyst usually contains a water like substance and not internal echoes on ultrasound. Complex cysts may have blood on the inside called hemorrhagic cyst. With time, the blood degenerates and fibrin may be inside. The septa are occasionally cell walls or may be thickened or very thin. To be complete, cancers can be cystic. Yours like blood. ...Read more
US 3.8cm mildly complex ovarian cyst. Septations mainly in mid aspect of lesion and no vascularity seen. What does "mildly complex" mean?
Great question: Not really sure. Any thing that is not a simple cyst is called complex. Sometimes the person who is reading the report does not think it is so bad so calls it mild. But it is not really a medical term. ...Read more

11.1cm cyst. "Markedly enlarged complex cystic cluster of grapes configuration right ovary with vascularity seen with septations " is removal best opt?
Ovarian cysts: You did not mention your age, but such a result of a scan indicates that the cluster of cysts should be sampled and a tissue biopsy should be obtained. This can be done by laparoscopic means (minimally invasive). See your GYN provider and have this done immediately. ...Read more
6.2 CM complex liver cyst which is non vascular, I really worried, I just got the results of ultrasound. Is it bad?
Non-vascular is good: Cysts can occur in many organs. If it is non-vascular, and does not demonstrate an associated mass and has a thin wall, it is probably a benign cyst. Follow up with your doctor, though, to be sure. Since I cannot see your cyst, there could be other associated findings that may be helpful and important. ...Read more
What does predominantly solid isoechoic mass with sites of cyst and increased vascularity measuring 5.5 x4.5x3.6 in thyroid mean?
Mm?: Hi. I hate to assume, but I assume this is a small nodule 5.5x4.5x3.6 mm? (not cm? That would be a BIG nodule). A nodule that small (in mm) would be too small to do a fine needle aspiration biopsy on. Are your TSH and free T4 normal? If so, I would say do another thyroid ultrasound in a year or so to see if it's growing. ...Read more
I ran 4 miles and came back with a grape size cyst in my inner thigh. Is it vascular? Should I go the er? I did not have it before my run.
Cyst after a run: Without seeing this it would be difficult to tell you what it is, so yes, you need to go to a physician to have them examine it. However, since it seems like you have not had anything like this before that might rule out types of vascular lesions we might be concerned about. Thus, a blister from excessive chaffing during your run would be a possibility - to be sure just go have it checked out. ...Read more

What is atherosclerotic vascular calcification? I have a cyst behind my left knee that is 2c by 2c by 5c.
Atherosclerosis: Atherosclerosis is buildup of cholesterol and fatty plaque in the blood vessel. However it is not necessarily related to a patient's weight and can occur even in very thin individuals. This buildup can get calcium deposited in it as well, which makes it stiff, hence the term "hardening of the arteries". The cyst behind your knee sounds like it may be a separate issue, called a "baker's cyst". We get these cysts behind our knees for no apparent reason. They swell and sometimes can rupture. They often however cause no problem. They are usually identified on an ultrasound study. If you had worsening pain, redness, leg pain, or new symptoms then it would need to be immediately evaluated. ...Read more

CT - "Adxenal mass" "Calcifications in the pelvis may indicate vascular phleboliths". What test can confirm this? Is an adxenal mass the same as cyst?
Yes,: An ovarian cyst is in the category of adnexal masses, but so are other ovarian and paraovarian masses. Generally the next step in the evaluation would be pelvic ultrasound to characterize it as a cyst or not. Phleboliths are common incidental findings and usually of no clinical concern. ...Read more
