Mind reader: Unfortunately, I can't tell you what your doctor is thinking. It is possible if you have a new onset herpes infection that the blood tests will not come back positive yet. Also tests are not perfect and can miss things, so maybe your doctor is treating just in case. However, there are other conditions that can cause lesions on your vulva. It depends: Valtrex (valacyclovir) is to prevent outbreaks to protect you from them and your sex partner. You may still be infectious even when there are no symptoms of an outbreak yet. If you have been monogamous, the same sex partner, it may not be necessary to take it. Have them tested and discuss with your doctor. I : I would question whether this is a fever blister given that it has been present for 2 months. Perhaps it is a condition called perleche?
