No: Asymptomatic exposure to herpes simplex virus doe not need to be treated with antivirals. It is treated only if there is an outbreak. Supressive treatment is only recommended if the outbreaks are very frequent and severe. ...Read more

It depends: Valtrex (valacyclovir) is to prevent outbreaks to protect you from them and your sex partner. You may still be infectious even when there are no symptoms of an outbreak yet. If you have been monogamous, the same sex partner, it may not be necessary to take it. Have them tested and discuss with your doctor. If you are abstinent, no, you don't need to take it, realizing you could have an outbreak. ...Read more

Alert your prescriber ASAP if you develop depression or experience worsening of depression on Valacyclovir. MD will need to evaluate with exam and possible labs to determine if other side effects are present as well, if treatment must be stopped, and establish a plan to treat depression (& any other SEs, if present). ...Read more

Shingles: Are you sure that you had shingles? (due to varicella zoster virus) it is unusual to get it twice unless your immune system is depressed. However it would be likely to have recurrent bouts of herpes simplex in the same area. When a new bout develops ask your doctor to culture the blisters for laboratory identification of the virus. The treatments are the same but the implications for you health. ...Read more

Mild to Moderate: Depressions are described as significantly relieved with the use of st. John's wort. This herbal does interact with some foods but there is no report of problems with the antiviral medication you mention. You should not have a problem, but read about possible items to avoid if you take sjw.

Can't say: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, but steroids are given to prevent long term chronic pain (use brief; data not great that it works).
Valtrex gets rid of virus; use is 1-2wk
