Postmenopausal woman I know is having vaginal bleeding. This has been going on for several weeks. Has happened before. What could this be?

Blood in the urine may originate from the vagina, which in close proximity to female urethra. Hard to say: Lifting the heavy object did not cause your vaginal bleeding. You may have have just seen it come out because of the abdominal pressure you exerted during the lift. The cause of the vaginsl bleeding could be start if your period, abnormal uterine bleeding, laceration , etc . The reasons are numerous. It depends....: It's 9 pm in UK. If no other symptoms (dizzy, lightheaded, pain, fever) probably it's safe to wait til morning unless bleeding starts up again. For sure she should call her gyn or GP in the morning. Might she be pregnant? Are you or she at risk for STD (new relationship, other partners, etc)?
