All testing has came back negative, what would slow down cell turn over in the vagina and cause discharge to pool/thicken rather than exit the vag?

Yes: So traditionally HSV was responsible for oral lesion and HSV 2 genital lesions. They are commonly in both areas now. Not typical: Proteus mirabilis is not a typical pathogen of vaginal infections. It is more typical of uti's, but you probably already know this.
