Vagal Response Constipation
Fiber and fluids: Simple constipation usually responds to a diet rich in fiber (bran, whole grain cereals, fruits, vegetables) and increased fluid intake (water is sufficient). Several significant causes of constipation other than bad diet should be investigated with the help of your doctor e.g. Hypothroidism, hirschprung's disease among others. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Are you born with vagal response or viovagle synscope? And why would it just start happening? Are there warning signs? Is it caused by stress/anxiety
Vagal responses: Activation of the vagus nerve typically leads to a reduction in heart rate, blood pressure, or both. This occurs commonly in the setting of gastrointestinal illness such as viral gastroenteritis or acute cholecystitis, or in response to other stimuli, including carotid sinus massage, Valsalva maneuver or pain from any cause, in particular, having blood drawn. Can the vagal nerve or vagal response be overactive or malfunction? Because whenever I eat anything I get very lightheaded, faintness, pale and shaky.
Vagal Nerve Problems:
Yes, an exaggerate vagal nerve response can contribute to dizziness. Probably, this happens when the vagal nerve causes the heart rate to slow down.
If this happens any more often than rarely, go see your doctor. You need to exclude irregular heart rate rate, fluctuation in blood pressure, and sudden rising or falling blood sugar - three reasons for dizziness around meals. ...Read more
If a MD presses on the eyes to induce vagal response, can it cause damage in a person with ocular hypertension?
Probably Not: I agree with Dr. Fishburn. Carotid massage or eye massage is no longer in vogue for treatment of PAT and other superventricular tachycardia. Pharmacological intervention is more controllable. Trying to induce an oculocardiac reflex is VERY unreliable. I do not think the short duration pulses of higher intraocular pressure would make untreated ocular hypertension advance to actual glaucoma. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I get weak and sleepy after bowel movement, for 2-3 hrs. Specially if I have some constipation on prev day. What else cud it be instead of vasovagal?
Not vagal: A vasovagal reaction would not cause this. There is some other cause. You need a careful look over. Is there something you eat, take, or do that is both constipating and making you tired? Dehydration comes to mind. Are you on a diuretic? Are you diabetic and poorly controlled? Clearly it's complicated and you need a full evaluation. ...Read more

Sleepiness: You'll notice its taken a long time for anyone to respond. You don't have a straightforward problem.
