Check other things: It could be a UTI that isn't growing out. Sometimes this happens if a person takes an antibiotic before culture. It could also be something else. There are warnings..: You would develop fever and start to feel quite unwell. With a kidney infection you would also most likely have low back pain. You would not just drop dead. However, if you develop these symptoms, seek help right away. ...Read more

One idea: If you have a fever and marked tenderness over the kidney, there's an off-chance that you have a staphylococcal kidney abscess. A second idea is a stone. Your physician knows how to follow up on these and other possibilities. ...Read more
