Uterus Didelphys Double Uterus
What are the chances of having twins when having double uterus? Is it even possible to have twins with uterus didelphys?
Yes and yes: Having a uterine didelphys, to my knowledge, doesn't increase your chance of having twins. In order to have the most common type of twins, fraternal, your ovary has to release 2 eggs, so twins more dependent on ovary than on uterus. But yes, it's possible to have twins with this malformation of the uterus. ...Read more
Double Uterus: In a female fetus, the uterus starts out as two small tubes. As the fetus develops, the tubes normally join to create one larger, hollow organ — the uterus. Sometimes, however, the tubes don't join completely. Instead, each one develops into a separate structure. This condition is called double uterus (uterus didelphys). Treatment is needed only if a double uterus causes symptoms or complications. ...Read more

I'm 20. I have uterus didelphys which I recently found out and I want to know what can I do to have a healthy uterus and a healthy baby in the future?
Proceed with caution: Your uterus is a true double uterus. Your doctor can perform an hsg to determine the sizes of each horn. This abnormality carries a risk of early and recurrent miscarriages, also the possibility of a breach pregnancy in addition to endometriosis related infertility. The kidneys need to be evaluated also for abnormalities since they develop at the same time as the uterus. ...Read more

What is the difference between uterus didelphys and bicornuate? Can you tell the difference by a ultrasound and how?
MRI - Gold Standard:
MRI is the "gold standard" for categorizing uterine anomalies due to its 98-100% accuracy.
Uterine Didelphys has separate divergent uterine horns with uniformly separate endometrial cavities, two separate cervices and often a vaginal septum.
Bicornuate uterus has two widely devergent (>75%) uterine horns and a thick septum composed of myometrium. ...Read more
I just found out that I have uterus didelphys and my cervicis are tilted to the right. My doctor said I will never have kids, is this true?
Maybe: Since I haven't seen the HSG denoting the didelphys, I cannot tell if this is a complete malformation or the uterus on one side is reasonably normal and capable of containing a pregnancy or not. If you have doubts obtain a 2nd opinion from a board certified OB-GYN or Reproductive / Infertility specialist. ...Read more

Yes: All pregnancy dating scans are estimates. Even though a single date is given, the actual date could also be before the estimated date or after the estimated date. Preterm labor: Uterine didelphys is a term used to describe a uterus that has developed into a "heart-shaped" or "walled" cavity with a mid-line division. Is a didelphys uterus pregnacy considered a high risk pregnacy im 26 year old smoker with a double uterus and 4 months pregnant
Hello. I would ask your doctor if s/he is currently classing you as high risk. Having a double uterus (uterus didelphys) does not necessarily mean that you will need special treatment to have a normal pregnancy and delivery. There can be a lot of variability in this condition. However, your doctor will probably want to follow you somewhat closely to ensure that you don't go into pre-term labor. If one of the uteruses is very small and that is where the embryo implanted or if that cervix is poorly developed this can increase the risk for miscarriage and preterm labor. In some cases there can be an increased risk for a breach delivery.
