Doctor insights on:
Using A Public Swimming Pool
No: Not if the pool is adequately chlorinated.
3mo old: Firstly public pools are the worst when it comes to contamination. I would suggest that you wait till 6mo of age.
Very unlikely: As long as the pool is adequately chlorinated, there should be no risk.
I have herpees and have a very bad outbreak atm can I go to a public swimming pool and swim or will it make the outbreak worse?
No: If the pool is maintained well then the chlorine or other chemicals in the water will protect you from any disease organisms. If you have any questions about a particular pool seek out the pool manager and ask for the test results of the water. These have to be done on a regular basis to check for water quality.
I believe I have contracted a ringworm from a public swimming pool a week ago. Everyday it gets more pus inside of it, surrounding the ringworm?
Doctor can evaluate: Ringworm on the skin is a fungal infection of the surface of the skin, called a Tinea corporis infection. It generally does not get pus inside it. A pus-forming infection more often has bacteria as the cause. Thus, a doctor should look at the skin problem and offer a diagnosis and treatment.
STDs: The reason they are named stds is that they are sexually transmitted, so unless you are having sex in the public swimming pool (and this really happens), this is very very unlikely. Would need far more info to try and answer your question in further detail. My suggestion is that if you feel you were exposed to an std go and see a doctor, be examined and tested thoroughly. Good luck.
Can trich be contracted in a public swimming pool? What is treatment for trich that is resistant to medication? What pain does trich cause untreated?
Not likely: An untreated pond (/"swimming hole")...Maybe...But you would see it all over the news if dozens of women got mystery trich. As to resistance, switch to different medicine. Untreated can cause "mystery" low abdominal pains--kinda non-descript and vague discomfort in low abdomen.
Harsh on your skin: Chlorine damages the oil and mineral balance of skin cells, destroying the fluid balance, resulting in dried out, dead cells. This in turn leads to dry, peeling skin, which makes the surface of the skin appear shiny. Make sure to apply moisturizer after being in a chlorine pool.
I suppose: I guess you probably could but I never heard of such an anecdote.
Regardless of: Chlorine, if you have severe burning do you really want to be back in the sun before getting in some healing time?
Not at all: No worries at all.Get a more detailed answer ›
As soon as...: Your incisions have healed completely, your drains are out, and you are cleared to do so by your surgeon.See 1 more doctor answer
