Can a lab urine drug test differentiate the use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) #3 w/ codeine & heroin 3 days later? My drug class said I used heroin when I took tylenol (acetaminophen) 3
Retest: One of the metabolites of codeine is morphine - but not heroin. Be aware though, if it was a low yield test (ie, like the kind you buy at the grocery store) - these usually give you a positive result for any opiate. Anything more specialized (ie, laboratory study ordered by a doctor) - would use mass spectrometry and differentiate every substance independently. Hope that helps! ...Read more
Can lab urine drug test differentiate the use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) #3 w/ codeine & heroin 3 days after last use? My drug class said I used heroin when I took T3
Depends on test type: Confirmatory test with gas or liquid chromatography will give a definitive result. Heroin is metabolized to 6-AM and eventually to morphine. Codeine is metabolized directly to morphine. If your test was done with a test strip, I would challenge it's results. If it was GC or HPLC then you're guilty. ...Read more

130 fasting b/g at the time of c-peptide test. Results of c-peptide 3.4. Male, age 55, on insulin injections. Is my pancreas working at100%?
No: You still make insulin. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, the amount of insulin/c-peptide made is insufficient for actual requirements. This is the reason for the high fasting blood sugar and represents pancreatic islet failure. As long as blood sugar is high, it doesn't matter how much c-peptide/insulin one makes as it still isn't enough to compensate for actual needs. ...Read more

Always ask, "Why?": Always ask, "Why do you ask?" Sometimes the person has a reason to know the information (such as a patient forgetting which of her own pills are which, or a doctor trying to figure out what a patient took). Other times, a person is snooping into another person's pills, trying to figure out what the other person is taking (unethical, and should be illegal). These pills might be Viread (tenofovir) and Tivicay. ...Read more
