Urologist Want Put Cystoscopy Wants Numbing
Why might one urologist want to put me to sleep for a cystoscopy while another wants to just use numbing jelly?
Several steps.: Cystoscopies are commonly office procedures. You will be asked to undress, put on a gown, then lie on table or chair. Your groin is prepped with antiseptic solution. A numbing gel may be placed in your urethra. A cystoscope will be placed into the bladder by the urologist; the initial entry is the most uncomfortable part. Irrigating fluid will enter your bladder. You may get an antibiotic. ...Read more

A f/u visit w/urologist in jan. Showed i had blood in urine again. Had cystoscopy done last week & was told i likely had a ureterocele. Implications?
Depends ?obstruction: Ureteroceles usually dianosed by bladder ultrasound. No intervention unless ureterocele is causing any significant obstruction evidenced by hyrdonephrosis (kidney swelling) on that side. Is it simple single system ureterocele or ectopic with duplex kidney? Simple cystoscopic incision, to allow uretrocele to drain. Why not done at cysto? Would be happy to review us for 2nd opinion if sent by email. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Could incontinence: I don't think it's easy to say that you don't have IC. The symptoms you are describing could either be IC, it could be urge incontinence, it could be a prolapse of the bladder or other pelvic floor dysfunction. You could have issues with bowels pressing on the bladder. What medicine have you tried besides antibiotics? I would recommend bladder training and possibly botox. ...Read more

It can be benign: Some people are prone to have a few RBCs in their urine. As long as your Bladder and Kidney are checked out to be healthy and free from any tumor or growth, then you can ignore it.
