I have frequent urination, negative urinalysis, blood in urine and some leakage, no pain while urinating what could cause these symptoms?

Many possible causes: If you have blood in your urine I wouldn't call it a negative urinalysis. Your symptoms could be caused by a number of conditions of the urinary or genital tract, including kidney or bladder cancer, stones, interstitial cystitis, even a sexually transmitted disease. I recommend that you see your doctor for more testing. ...Read more

My dad is age 70. He has left flank pain, blood in urine, constipation. His pcp prescribed cipro (ciprofloxacin) even tho urinalysis came back neg for wbc. Help!?

See a urologist.: For now, I would not discontinue the medication as prescribed, as there might be other information that indicates infection. Hopefully a urine culture was sent, which will confirm the diagnosis. Blood in the urinary tract should be evaluated, however, and I recommend seeing a urologist who can perform a full evaluation with history, physical exam, and urine testing. ...Read more

Moderate amount of microscopic blood in urine sample. Had cat scan and found nothing. What could it be? All values were normal in urinalyses.

More tests needed.: Your initial investigations may not be complete. After a CT scan is negative, should the hematuria be persistent, i.e. not just due to a treatable infection or a kidney stone that may pass, you'd need a cystoscopy wherein they put a camera into the bladder via the urethra and look at the bladder under direct visualization. ...Read more

Burning during urination for 3-4 days. Went to doctor. Blood in urine no longer detectable visually. Red and white blood cells detected during preliminary urine analysis. Received ciprofloxacin to treat a potential UTI. Doctor did not do a physical exami

Not much to do: When the symptoms are classic urinary tract infection and the urinalysis is also agreeing, there really isn't much of a physical exam that is necessary. If you were also having significant vaginal symptoms - discharge, burning, pain with intercourse, fever and pelvic pain, then certainly a pelvic exam should also be done. ...Read more

My blood and urine test result are worrying me. It shows high Uric acid levels and traces of blood in urine.

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, uric acid levels in urine are not meaningful, it is the blood level that counts. A few red cells in urine are not abnormal, and trace may be the same. It would be prudent to discuss the issue with your doctor who ordered the tests. ...Read more

Urine dips always show 1+ or moderate blood in urine, but usually no RBC. What could be the cause? This is NOT during my menstrual cycle. Thanks

Microhematuria: If you exercise heavily, you will secrete myoglobin in your urine and as a UA can not distinguish between hemoglobin (from blood) and myoglobin (from muscle), UA will be positive for blood but no RBC seen. If your UA however reveals both blood and RBC then you need to seek a urologist's care for further evaluation and workup. ...Read more
