CT Scan benefit outweigh the risk? I'm 23 with 3 CT scans already. Doctors concerned about chronic upper left abdomen pain radiating to back.
Depends: It depends on what your dr is concerned about. CT scans do provide significant radiation exposure. Some causes of left upper abdominal pain can e assessed by ultrasound or endoscopy, depending on your other symptoms and risks. Many organs there: Stomach, spleen, pancreas, splenic flexure of the colon. Inflammation of these can b the culprit. Gastric causes would b the most common. It could be many things. Is it worsened or relieved by eating? Worse with exercise? Exercise induced suggests musculoskeletal, food induced (especially fat) suggests gallbladder problems. You are already on Prilosec that should help with peptic problems.

Maybe for abdomen: But your history of recent acute bronchitis may be more what is contributing to your upper left back issues, especially if there was any coughing or chest discomfort with that bout. It's important to have the source of your constipation checked out, and get that squared away by your PCP.
