Could be his: Sleeping position or from the mattress if it is old not supporting his back. If the back is not supported it can hurt into the armpits and around into the front of the chest all the way around to the middle. Have him try a different sleeping position for certain. If that does not help have him see a doctor for evaluation of his upper spine. But I would bet on the sleeping position or the mattress. ...Read more
