What is uars (upper airway resistance syndrome)? Is it caused by allergies?

Similar to "OSA": "osa" is obstructive sleep apnea. Uars is repeated arousals from deeper stages of sleep that occur when your upper airway collapses during sleep (its natural for some collapse to occur in everyone). Its a problem when the collapse causes a reduction in airflow, which your brain "sees" then wakes you up to open your airway. Its probably a less severe but similar form of sleep disorder than osa. ...Read more

Flaky, dry but oily skin around mouth, is there correlation between upper airway resistance syndrome (stricture in hypopharynx) and this? Po breathin?

Doctor can evaluate: A "sleep medicine" doctor can evaluate to see what type of sleep disorder there is. Lip and perioral skin cracking, dryness, or other similar symptoms may be related to "mouth-breathing" or "lip-licking", regardless of whether or not there is uars or some other sleep disorder. Sometimes, a person makes his irritated lips worse by unknowingly using lip balm that he is allergic to. ...Read more
