I have a 93mm unilocular midline ovarian cyst, possibly cystadenoma. Pain in lower buttock down leg, very restricted urination.
Need removal: Typically a CA-125 level would be checked to help determine the likelihood of malignancy. Sounds low based on the US findings. Regardless, the mass should be removed to relieve your symptoms and so that a pathologist can evaluate the ovary. Most times both tubes and ovaries would be removed and sometimes the uterus. More info needed: It would be helpful to know your age. A 27cm ovarian cyst has a low chance of being cancer in a young women in her 20s; however, in an women in her 60s it would be very worrisome for cancer. No matter what your age, you should have it surgically removed. You might consider seeing a Gyn Oncologist for this surgery as they are the most qualified to perform the surgery on ovarian cancers. ...Read more
U/S says 5.6cm ovarian cyst resolved, but it still hurts all the time. What could be going on? I'm still having all the same symptoms.
Healthy diet: A healthy diet is likely to prevent ovarian systs, though there is little research to support it. Common advice is to avoid sugar and simple carbs, emphasize fruits & vegies, esp. Dark leafy greens, & minimize meats, dairy, &eggs, esp. If not organic (to avoid hormones & antibiotics in meats). Some advise an alkaline diet & foods rich in phytoestrogens.
