Bowels vary: Bowel transit time can vary from day to day. If things are moving through slower, stools get harder. If things move through faster, stools softer. Things besides diet can affect transit time - even how active the little guy was on a particular day. Make sure he gets plenty of fluids during the day, including water, and if it's hot out, make sure he gets more. Eat fiber and lots of play time! ...Read more

Should i take my 2 year old to the doctor if shes been running a fever of 103 the past 2 days?

Should i take my 2 year old to the doctor if shes been running a fever of 103 the past 2 days?

FEVER: At this age common cause is viral; associated symptoms: runny nose, cough, malaise, refusal to eat, some headache, body ache, etc. If these are not there, look for any burning urine (possible uti). Too much headache, vomiting or any worsening- will need immediate medical attention. Make sure she drinks enough fluid, give acetaminophen/tylenol 160 mg every four hour for fever 101 or above. ...Read more

Should I go to dr?

Possibly: If he's had a fever over 101 for more than 2-3 days, and not feeling better, you may want to get him checked by his doctor. A virus is most likely, but other infections can look similar. Give him small frequent amounts of clear liquid (like Pedialyte) and bland foods. ...Read more

My 3month old has had a low grade fever 100.4-100.9 for 2 weeks. Doctors say not to call unless it's 101 or higher should I be concerned?

TALK TO DOCTOR: Your 3months old baby having fever around 100.4 may be normal or due to mild viral infection .which may go away soon . You should be concerned if baby is having any of these symptoms like cough ,not feeding well ,diarrhea or vomiting and temperature is above 101,.Anyhow baby needs to be checked /examined again if he has any new signs of any disease/infection may need treatment ...Read more

2 yr old fever 2x a month ranging from 101-103, last two have had no other symptoms. Cause? Take her to doctor again? Recommended blood work?

Most likely viral: There is always concern for fevers in a child. However, it is most likely viral f there are only cold or no symptoms and your child is doing well. Of course, you can take her back to the doctor to re-address your concerns. Would not recommend work-up based on these symptoms, but her doctor may recommend some other tests. ...Read more

floaters for 2 years
Last 2 months some days I see a green/purple dot for a second and then it goes(once or twice per day)?

Floater: Most likely this is a floater that is refracting the light in a way that creates the colored effect. If your floaters are increasing or if you develop veils or curtains, then you should come in to the office and be examined. ...Read more

7 month old daughter fever for 4 days, every day up to 104.2. Saw gp 2 days ago, said ear and throat infection, use acetaminophen. Should i see gp?

Fever: Fever can be scary but it is actually one of your body's best defenses against disease. If she has a ear infection the pain and fever should resolve with antibiotics within 48 to 72 hours. If she is still uncomfortable and running fever while on antibiotics i would recommend getting her re-checked. Sometimes a stronger antibiotic will need to be prescribed in order to treat her. ...Read more

What vitamins should I give to my 2 months old daughter!rhe is having a aough more than 1 month. She took an antibiotic 2 wks.No breastfd.

Vit D, probiotic: Infant formula should provide most of the vitamins she needs but she may benefit from additional vit d- the vitamin d council advises infants take 1000 iu/day (upper limit of 2000) & formula probably has no more than 400 iu. See http://www.Vitamindcouncil.Org/about-vitamin-d/how-do-i-get-the-vitamin-d-my-body-needs/ vit c 250 mg 2x/day may help. Consider a probiotic with bifidus. See my comment:. ...Read more

My 5 year old daughter tested positive for influenza she is running a fever of 103.2 should I have her seen again for the fever she has had fever for 2 days now and 103.2 is the highest it's been

My 5 year old daughter tested positive for influenza she is running a fever of 103.2 should I have her seen again for the fever she has had fever for 2 days now and 103.2 is the highest it's been

It : It helps to know that your daughter has the flu and that fever for a few days is going to be expected. Fevers for the most part aren't dangerous and are just the body's natural reaction to fighting off an infection. Most of these infections are viral (like the flu) and may be accompanied by runny nose, sore throat, congestion, mild rash, or nothing at all. Since fevers aren't dangerous, we usually treat the fever with Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen just to make the child more comfortable as their body fights the illness. "red flags" that we look for with fever to indicate something more serious is going on are: -fevers that last 5 days or more -fevers persistently above 104f orally -a child that acts very sick - very irritable or difficult to wake -difficulty breathing -vomiting, diarrhea, refusal to drink, or dehydration -a purple rash, esp on the legs -stiff neck -any complaints of pain such as the ear, throat, stomach or a joint as always, use your judgement. If you think that your child is ill, err on the side of caution and call your child's doctor. ...Read more

I've been getting fever and sweats, runny nose for 2 days, should I wait another day before seeing the doctor?

I've been getting fever and sweats, runny nose for 2 days, should I wait another day before seeing the doctor?

Probably not: If you have a headache and neck stiffness with your other symptoms, you need to see a doctor. If you are coughing and feeling achy all over, you might have the flu in which case you need to be seen if you are getting worse. Otherwise, having these symptoms for only 2 days, it's probably not time yet. Rest, drink fluids, stay home. ...Read more

How long should a fever last with an ear infection in a 2 year old?

How long should a fever last with an ear infection in a 2 year old?

Depends: With treatment, i generally see the fever come down in the first 24-36 hrs on the penicillin family of meds and 48-72 hrs with a cephalosporin. This assumes the ear infection is the only issue. If no response within that time frame, there could be a resistant germ that requires a different drug. ...Read more

Second Opinion:: Your child needs further evaluation. Has she started going to day care recently? Cough for 1 month and rapid weight loss is a concern. Strep throat is rare at 1 yr, usual age is 5-15, exceptions are there though. In evaluating her condition the things to keep in mind are: cystic fibrosis, immunodeficiency, asthma, metabolic diseases, GI (e.g. Celiac) or endocrine disorders. ...Read more

One year old vomiting and diarrhea for 2 days no fever. Should I take him to doctor?

One year old vomiting and diarrhea for 2 days no fever. Should I take him to doctor?

Vomiting: try at home oral rehydration using pedialyte and make sure that you do not give dairy products and greasy foods, using a brat diet is helpful. Avoid juices as the sugar content can actually worsen the diarrhea. If the vomiting persists you can ask your doctor for a prescription for Zofran (ondansetron). You can always take him to the doctor ...Read more
