My 2 year old is having neck pain, and fever is having chills, and she is really lethargic. Should i take her to a doctor or wait it out?
Hi, my two year old (30 lb) daughter went to the doctor for a fever of 104.6. She was prescribed liquid ammoxicillan 50mg/ml dosed at two ML 2x/day. Is this dose right?
For what ????: Antibiotics including amoxicillin are usually dosed by weight and condition. A bladder infection would be dosed lower than an ear infection. That said, I cannot remember ever using a dose that low for anything. My usual for an ear infection at her weight would be 600 mg twice a day,a bladder infection 350 mg twice a day. ...Read more
Comfort/ observation: The average 2yo with fever ; cough has a mild self limited illness. Comfort meds/fluids/ simple digestible foods and a preservation of normal routine will help keep things as simple ; allow recovery of minor pbs. If you observe a decline in activity/fluid intake etc a call to the service is in order. Fixed fever over 102 for more than 12 hours is usually a sign a visit may be needed. ...Read more
Should i take my two year old to the doc if he has yellowish green snot? No fever, and he has been sleeping through the night, occasional dry cough

However, if the symptoms persist for more than a few days, even if he is comfortable, it's worth a look by your doctor. Additionally, if anything else changes (ie: fever, decreased appetite, irritability, unable to sleep at night), have him checked. ...Read more

Fever: Fever is a sign of infection and children have frequent viral infections especially during cold and flu season. My 2 year old daughter woke up w/ a small fever & what looks like slapped cheek rash on her cheeks. What else could it be? Should I take her to doc?
Ok to watch at home: If your daughter is active and eating breakfast and otherwise seems okay to you, usually you can watch her at home. Low grade fever is common in children, as is rash. If the fever lasts more than 72 hours, or she is acting ill, it's a good idea to have her see her pediatrician. Hope she feels better! ...Read more
