Unexpected Pregnancy After Tubal Ligation
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

I have had a tubal ligation done eight years ago I was wondering is it possible still get pregnant? Because I seem to be having pregnancy symptoms.
Tubals can fail: Not very often but easy to check a urine preg test, if - and u are still worried see your gyn for a blood preg test which will be + a few days before the missed period and if u are preg- hopefully not - your obgyn needs to follow u closely since u would be more at risk for a tubal (ectopic pregnancy) due to the fact you had a tubal and the tubes were damaged by the tubal. ...Read more
Life is full of...: Life is full of possibilities. Thus, the answer to, "Is it possible for..." is usually yes. Pregnancy after a BTL is vanishingly rare, so that should not be assumed based on symptoms. 26 is very young for menopause, but certainly not impossible. However, pregnancy and menopause symptoms have little, if any, overlap. Not a bad idea to talk with your gyn. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Possibility of a healthy pregnancy after 4 years of having tubal ligation? I heard (even from dr's and nurses), its highly possible.
Less than 1%: Tubal ligation is considered permanent sterilization and theoretically has less than a 1% chance of pregnancy thereafter (since that was the goal of the ligation). Options for conception, therefore, include tubal "reversal" and ivf (which bypasses the blocked tubes). If a woman does conceive on her own after a ligation, there's an increased risk of tubal pregnancy. ...Read more
I'm 39 and had a tubal ligation 14 years ago. I have a lot of pregnancy symptoms. Could these be possible or premenopausal symptoms instead?
Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more
