Is it normal for someone with an eye injury to have eyelid twitching?

Eyelid twitching

Eye_infections
Eyelid twitching occurs when any issue causes ocular surface irritation. It is a protective mechanism and will continue until the eye irritation is gone. Try using frequent artificial tears to lubricate the eye and see if the twitching improves.

What eye injuries are emergencies?

Probably all

Ophthalmology
If your eye is injured, especially if there is a chance the outer wall has been penetrated you should be seen immediately. If the vision drops, the eye gets red or painful, or you see light flashing then an examination with your ophthalmologist is mandatory. It is always best in this circumstance to err on the side of caution and protect your vision.

Is it okay to smoke if you have an eye infection?

No!

Open-uri20120210-22120-s5vhb8
Even if you do smoke and have been smoking for years and trying to quit, it is much better for your immune system if you refrain from smoking during an eye infection. Studies have shown that even the equivalent of 1-2 cigarettes a day reduces the immune response to infection and makes it harder to clear the infection.

What are the signs when you get an eye infection?

Redness, swelling and drainage

Eyes
Eye infections typically produce redness, swelling and drainage in the eye, or eyes if the condition is bilateral. Clear drainage may be due to viral conditions, whereas whitish or thick mucousy drainage is more like due to bacterial causes. Some infections are sneaky, and the eye may not present with redness or swelling or drainage. Get an eye exam with your eye MD (ophthalmologist) to know what type of infection you might have and to obtain correct and prompt treatment.

Is it okay to exercise while having an eye infection?

Exercise & eye infxn

Eye_infections
As long as your vision isn't impaired to the point that it would increase your risk of injury while having an eye infection it should be safe to do so. If it is somewhat impaired you may be able to exercise by riding a stationary exercise bike or doing other exercises that don't require perfect balance and vision.
