Not a definitive Dx: Prenatal ultrasounds are a bit unreliable when it comes to assessing the health of the kidneys. Since the kidneys may still be developing, it is not uncommon for there to be some variation in the findings. Unless the DX is dramatic, i generally wait until the kid is 2 weeks old & do a specific renal scan ti see if the prenatal finding persists.Most are amenable to treatment. ...Read more

Depends: If your kidney function is totally normal (tests can be done to check this) and you have no blood pressure issues at all, then the chance of getting preeclampsia should be about the same as that of the general population, which is approximately 15%.
