Hw many times during pregnacy are u suppoe to go for an ultrasound to check the babies weight gain?

As needed: There is no specific recommendation for routine ultrasound exams during a normal pregnancy. However, most women are going to have at least one ultrasound at 18 to 21 weeks, the ideal time to evaluate for normal fetal structures. There will likely be additional sono's if there is a problem with the size of the uterus (abdominal measurements), gestational diabetes, elevated blood pressure, etc. ...Read more

Sonogram (Definition)

An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

Ovarian Ectopic: Although rarer, an ovarian ectopic is possible and unfortunately still needed to come out.If your ovary was removed, you'll still be able to conceive with ovulation from your remaining ovary. At least one of your tubes must be normal for your doc to reassure you about future pregnancies. The next time you see your doc, ask exactly what was removed & what kind of shape your tubes are in. Take care. ...Read more

Are ultrasounds can be dengerous to the baby when it is being done monthly during pregnancy (ob visits)?

I've had total 7 ultrasounds with my pregnancy beacuse of bleeding i had is it true its bad for the baby iam having another coming up to see gender?

Safe when done right: My understanding of ultrasounds is that when they're done properly, they are safe. Ultrasounds are not like x-rays in which radiation is used. If an ultrasound probe is left in one spot for a very extended period of time, it could potentially raise the temp of the scanned tissue, but it is unclear if that has any ill effect. Recommend you pose this good ? To the radiologist before the next u/s. ...Read more

Can longer implantation time affect dating ultrasounds in early pregnancy? Can it affect growth estimates in early pregnancy and date you behind?

"Dating" a fetus: The "dating" refers to the gestational age of the developing fetus not a social romantic encounter. Ultrasounds are only accurate plus or minus 2 weeks gestation unless done serially.(more than one). 'That is why OB MD's use multiple parameters to date pregnancies including LMP(last period), pelvic exam uterine size, etc. "Dating" is an inexact science in life and medicine. ...Read more
